The world's gone mad.Does that make him the most expensive Scottish player in history?

It does. The fee is high in part because he scored a lot of goals last season but I think more because he counts as home-grown towards their squad quotas. It's why someone like Wan-Bissako is worth a lot more than someone like Kierney.

Wan-Bissaka is worth more than Tierney simply because Tierney isn’t English. We all know this.
I rate McBurnie. I hope he starts getting regular game time for Scotland alongside Griffiths.

Early doors, I know, but if he continues to progress at EEP and keeps knocking them in, I would not be at all surprised if Kevin Nisbet became Dunfermline's first million-pound transfer...

He has got the qualities that make a great striker and he has a certain swagger about him that sets him apart - did you she the signal he gave to the Dundee fans after when he scored? Braw.

£25m fee for Tierney. His designated replacement was pretty woeful tonight apparently.

Ozpar, even if nisbet has an amazing season he’ll then be in the last year of his contract and will want to move onwards and upwards so we’ll be lucky to get £200k

Look at shankland. They key would be to see how he does in the next 10 games and if all going well look to add another year or 2 on, that might double that figure.

Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!

Tierney is a good signing for Arsenal. I think Arsenal have had a pretty good window actually - strengthened in all areas (IMO Luiz > Koscielny), and got some hefty earners off the wage bill (Ramsey, Cech, Koscielny, Welbeck).

Tierney could make the difference that will get them a top 4 finish. Good news for Scotland too.

Googled to see how much transfer was and was shocked to find he was born in Isle of Man.

I thought he was a born and bred weegie

TOWK, I couldn't agree more.

IMHO I think he went as far as he could in Scotland and a move to Arsenal is best for all.

It is indeed. He could excel and move up to the next level or it could be he is playing at his maximum and he won't be a superstar like Robertson has become. There will be no disgrace in that.

I’m disappointed it’s arsenal that took him. Think he can do better than that. Would have liked to have seen him at someone like Dortmund or Napoli. I see some wee Scottish boy has signed for feyenoord from Liverpool U21s. Anyone heard of him?

Dortmund in my view would be a better proposition for them. Hasn't done Jadon Sancho any harm.

That's different from saying that they're a step up. And also, Arsenal's track record in developing young players is pretty darn good.

Yeah, they've had a couple of poor seasons but have still won trophies and made it to the Europa League Final last year - that's better than Dortmund and Napoli

I think I err on the same side of the argument that Arsenal are still a better side than Dortmund and Napoli but even if we disagree on that I'd say Napoli already have a tremendous left back in Ghoulam and the last thing Tierney needs at this stage of his career is a drop in game time as he's up against top drawer competition.

Sancho is flourishing as he just needed game time too.

Jbob, I disagree mate.

The biggest difference is Robertson has had 2 years at a top premiership club, I believe Tierney will become a top player at Arsenal

Comparing Robertson and Tierney is the apples and oranges conundrum.

Robertson is a flier, a fast wing back who does not just outrun his marker but puts in a telling ball on the move. Defensively he is adequate.

Tierney is a composed defender who might yet end up as a centre back. He is less effective at bombing forward than Robertson but a more composed player all round.

Sammer I'm not sure you can tell how composed Tierney is until he has been tested under fire on the battle ground of the EPL. It's one thing looking classy against the forwards of Motherwell and Kilmarnock and quite another for him to look as good against Salah, Sterling and Co.
Scottish players haven't always thrived after heading south to Arsenal with big reputations. Just ask Peter 'the next George Best' Marinello.

Putting aside the new money that celtic now have at their disposal...

... I think it's great and really hope that he, along with McGinn, Robertson, McBurnie and any other player who can pull on the Scottish Jersey do really well.

Tierney has been mentioned in UEFA dispatches in 2017 and 2018, first in their breakthrough squad and then list of 50 top young players.
This was recognition for his performances at European level. So yes he has proved he is already quite classy

Plenty of Scottish players have done well down South, it's a long list.

But lets bring up one guy from nearly 50 years ago who didn't quite live up to the media's branding of him. OK.

Well how about we all just wait and see how Tierney does week in week out. I sincerely hope he does live up to expectations but wouldn't be surprised if it turns out he isn't quite a top drawer full back. It could just be that he is a very adequate epl player like dozens of others. No more no less.

He’ll get game time at arsenal but they won’t be competing for major honours anytime soon. Emery is a good manager but that’s a very average squad bar one or two players.

Arsenal have a solid team, but no real depth IMO. Tierney is by far their best defender, he most certainly will get game time.

That's pretty much my view of the two as well. Slightly different styles but two top players. I think Tierney is going to smash it at Arsenal.

I honestly think Tierney is as good as Andy was at the same age. Remember, Andy is at least 3 years older and even at Hull, he look good but was never anything special. He's prove din Europe with celtic that he's a quality player

Robertson proved himself at Hull where he could ease himself into the rigours of the EPL before stepping up to Liverpool where mistakes won't be tolerated. If Tierney doesn't hit the ground running at arsenal he won't be afforded too many chances.
