Him and Anthony McDonald signed on loan until the end of the season, option to recall in January. Great signings imo both have a lot of ability and will add to the squad

Delighted with both signings, Cochrane will be a very good player at this level, and McDonald played well at Inverness last year. Nice bit of a buzz going into a big game tomorrow now!

Yeah the recall in Jan is a worry, Levein tends to recall everyone they have on loan in Jan

Both are only 18. Cochrane was a bit of a boy wonder when he made the Hearts first team two seasons ago but he didn't feature as much last season. Was he injured?

McDonald was born in Kirkcaldy I see. I can't say I know anything about him but he's been capped at under-age level.

A lot of Hearts youth players come from Fife, they appear to have a good scouting system here.

the recall option is standard for any loan deal and works both ways, if there is a lesson from the Keena one it is to have a plan B/C in the pipeline whether its us wanting to send them back or Hearts calling them back.

different issue is they will be back at Hearts next week presumably to play in the challenge cup in Ireland....

well it shows Hearts were more than happy with Keena’s progress while with us so that can only be positive.

I'm hoping last January was a one-off. Hearts were crippled by injuries to strikers, and it made sense to recall Keena. Hearts also had a large wage problem with Martin, and thought they had the chance to offload him, rather than pay a percentage of his wages whilst he played for us.

Fingers crossed they stay alright on the injury front and we keep these guys until the end of the year.

His first goal for Hearts. Vs Celtic. Only 16 at the time.

* edit * if someone could fix the link, that would be great. 😃

An interview with SC giving his thoughts on the signings is now on COWS. He knew them as 13-14 year olds when he was a coach at Hearts. He talks of a developing relationship with Hearts and hints at more deals ... not clear if that's this season though.

I'm much more excited about McDonald.
Very highly rated by Hearts fans I speak to.
Cochrane fell out of favour, described as "lazy" by Levein.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere

Feel like both could be very shrewd business, Crawfords links coming in handy to bring two boys that fit the style we’re trying to develop. Cochrane was injured most of last season so has a point to prove and looked incredible when he burst onto the scene. Mcdonald provides the much needed competition to our current wingers which will either spur them both on or give him a chance to sign. Both being youngsters on loans I assume the wages to be very reasonable too. Exciting stuff

well we cant get another loan from them this season after signing the two lads so that's not an option. someone on a permanent deal with a huge sell on clause?

whether its involving Hearts or not, there isn't an obvious position that needs filled now imo, got options/cover in every position unless someone leaves or the signing is another youngster for the reserves.

Two potentially really good signings. A few Jambos at my work reckon Cochrane lost his way a bit with injuries last season but has a bit about him in the middle of the park. Really composed on the ball too although maybe a bit lightweight . MacDonald had a good 2nd Half of the season of the season at ICT and maybe a bit unlucky not to get more game time at the start of the season at Hearts but looks a really promising player.

Awight Pat!

Echo the above, if we play it to his feet he'll do just fine for us. Problem was Devine and Scully were hoofing it into space, not exactly utilising his skills
