Club Statement

Forfar Athletic officials are delighted to report that Manager Jim Weir and first team coach Barry Sellars are now recovering well at home having been involved in a horrific head on motorway collision not long after leaving Ochilview following last night’s training session.

Along with the driver of the other vehicle involved Jim who was at the wheel of his company car and Barry were rushed by ambulance from the scene to Forth Valley Hospital but were fit enough to be released during the night.

Both Jim and Barry have suffered fairly severe whiplash injuries as well as more than a few cuts and bruises but when one sees the photographic evidence they are both lucky to not have sustained more serious injury.

Knowing both, they will be keen to be in the dugout no doubt come Saturday afternoon, but they will also take the required medical advice we are sure before any firm decision is made.

Thankfully the driver of the other vehicle also escaped serious injury.

All ‘Loons’ supporters will we are sure be wishing Jim and Barry all the best following this harrowing experience and also a speedy recovery to full fitness.

C'mon Ye Pars!

Glad to hear everyone is ok, although I am sure they will spend the next 6 months pestered by whiplash lawyers!
Why are they training in Stenhousemuir? Surely there are much closer sites

A lot of part time teams outwith the central belt train in the central belt because that’s where most of their players are from.

"sounds like an investigation you should be involved with immediately"

You can always rely on Dotnet for a needless facetious comment, sooner or later, in this case the former.

A head on collison on a motorway is a rare occurence, if indeed that's the way it happened.

One party has to be driving in the wrong direction on the wrong carriegeway - surely ?

"Could be a press typo . Maybe meant near motorway"

That was my first thought - quick and easy access to motorway from Stenhousemuir.

The BBC didn't mention anything about "head on" in their report I seen.

nowhere mentions motorway but does mention head on. Company car gets a mention but not clear if Forfar company car or JW employment company car, which if it was he presumably has extended insurance for commuting to a 2nd place of business.

The statement on Forfar's official website says it was a head-on motorway collision. That's where the opening post was taken from.

Understood...
But head on could just mean one car going into another and not necessarily two cars travelling towards each other.
Anyhoo... What does it matter in the grand scheme of things... As long as everyone is ok.

Arbroath train in Perth.

''But head on could just mean one car going into another and not necessarily two cars travelling towards each other.''

That's a meaning of 'head on' I hadn't come across before, widtink!😊

For the record, I didn't report it - Not Guilty, as the legal gurus would say.

Can't think I've ever chased ambulances - absolutely not up my street, or any other avenue for that matter, motorways included.
