 Sincere congratulations Liverpool

No I don't really mean that but with City being bettered by Wolves today the gap Liverpool have will surely not be hauled back. Title race over and it's only the first week of October. Pep looks set to fail again as his fourth season curse strikes again.

Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.

Only 8 games into the season min.
I'm a Liverpool fan... But there's a long long way to go.
I'm no putting the bunting up yet

It's over. It's done. City are losing to the likes of Norwich and Wolves. Teams that do that don't win leagues.

Sure you tried this trick last year and I told you City would still win it.

Livi, last season City weren't up against the European champs. Liverpool are a different beast now.

On a more Scottish note, I see Rangers are going to the top of the league and currently beating Hamilton 5-0. I hope Mr. Sutton doesn't suggest Hamilton are lying down!!!!

Liverpool have Utd and City to play in the next set of fixtures.
Come through these and retain this gap, then Liverpool can only self destruct on a grand scale to throw it away.
As it is, they could only find themselves a few points ahead by November and like last season, game on again.
I'm not being taken in again by these reverse psychology posts by TOWK :)

City will go on to lose more imo. After losing Kompany the injury to Laporte has left them looking weak all across their defensive line .Liverpool have lost 1 out of their last 47 league games(2-1 away to City last season)Their last defeat at home was in April 2017(45 games ago)- everything points to it being their year this time.

I can see Liverpool beating Man U but thinking back to last season when Liverpool played City to go 10 clear and lost to go 4 clear and we all know what happened after that I would like Liverpool to win it I like Herr Klopp and there is still a Scottish connection in the team

Aye, TOWK is playing Fergie-esque mind games, AAPS and it's only October. Keegan's Newcastle had a 12 point lead in January, I think and collapsed in the run in.

Plenty mileage in the EPL yet. Liverpool have been riding their luck recently, v Leicester and Sheffield United. That won't continue indefinitely. They're bound to encounter some bad luck and poor form along the way, especially if they're competing in the CL knockout stages, as seems likely.

Interesting that Arsenal in 3rd are same amount of points from Liverpool as they are from the relegation zone...

Wtf is going on there?

Up until he got the job permanently, Man U were getting similar results to City and Liverpool. There was even a media drive criticising Man U for not offering him a permanent contract before the end of the season.

So they bowed to the pressure.....

All the games he won initially were against sides in the bottom half of the table and were games United should have won.

They let Lukaku go without properly replacing him with a prolific striker. I know he had his critics but he did get goals against the bottom half clubs.

I know the squad needed major surgery but they're possibly pitching too many youngsters into the starting eleven at the moment.

Despite all the money spent there isnt a huge amount of depth in the squad in terms of quality.

I know there was a few years difference in signing so theres a degree of inflation but United paid more for Fred than City did for KDB or Liverpool did for Fabinho ot Keita. They just haven't used their money well. Part of that lies with Ole but a lot of the criticism going Woodward's way seems justified. If Wenger is to be believed they were paying Sanchez closer to £600k a week which had to have been noticed by other established 1st team players especially when Sanchez then went on to struggle.

Just for the record during Oles purple patch at the beginning they won away from home against Spurs, Arsenal and PSG. Not sure they would be classed as games they would have won prior to his arrival.
While over inflated wages and fees have been spent I'm not sure that necessarily indicates that poor players have been bought. It's my understanding that City were also very interested in signing Fred and Sanchez but Utd paid the premium prices. I have no doubt that if Fred was in that City side he would be preforming very well and looking every bit like a 50m player. Maybe Sanchez as well though I think there is more to his decline than simply the wider problems at Utd.
I don't think any claims of wasting money can be levelled at Ole. 80m for Maguire and 50m for Wan-Bissaka may seem hefty but that's today's prices and both I think are quality defenders with their best seasons in front of them.15m for Dan James appears to be a bargain. I'd give Ole to the new year. Once he gets his full squad back and he hasn't affected much of a change then perhaps its time to move him out.

Turn on, Tune in, Drop out.

He is slowly but surely weeding out the high earning under achievers many signed by the megalomaniac Jose on huge wages as panic buys at the time
He needs at least 2 full seasons to fix it......if he will be afforded that who knows

I think Sun 20th will be crunch day.
They host Liverpool.
Win and he will get a bit longer... Lose (especially by lots) and he'll be gone.
