 Goalkeeper

One of the most important parts of a team. We have Gill with less than 10 games at any level and Scully who couldn’t even get a game for Morton who gave him to us.

Other goalkeepers in the league outwith Dundee teams.

Qos - McCrorie - Young promising Rangers keeper on loan with Experience in champ last season
Alloa - MacDonald - experienced Killie keeper in SPL
Caley - Ridgers - experienced in Champ
Ayr - Doohan - Promising Celtic keeper on loan
Arbroath - Gaston - experiened championship keeper (180 games)
Partick - Fox - SPL experience
Morton - Ramsbottom - young keeper with no experience (conceded worst in league)

Gill should be playing league or two below for a few seasons to get experience in league football and then with 70 games under his belt he would hopefully be more able. This isn’t the place for him to learning and making mistakes. Its different for Mccann, Todd etc, if they make a mistake it probably won’t cost a goal and turn a game.

I’m suprised Crawford has overlooked this position. Hopefully he sorts it out in January.

We have had fantastic keeper over many years, but recently it seems to be a position overlooked in its importance.

I listened to Neil Lennon on why he brought back Fraser Forster, one reason and no slant on Craig Gordon, but he brought with him a presence, towards strikers and his defenders alike! Goalkeeping ability between him and Gordon was not in question just the way he commanded his area!

Scott Bain at Celtic would be a better look than Gordon!

Over the years we have always had a reasonable standard of goalkeeper unfortunately at the moment our standards have plummeted neither of our keepers are of any quality neither have command of their goal area when under pressure Scully was rejected by couple of our rivals and Cammy at best is 1st div material .

Get Robinson back! As much of an eccentric he was he commanded his box and his distribution was decent.

No he simply wasnt, he had some very good games however was erratic and his "side volley" distribution was no more accurate than Westy slicing his goal kicks out into halbeath road.

I feel we’d benefit from a change but no way is Robinson the answer.

Robinson lost some horrific goals as well as making some amazing saves.

Robinson was no world beater but was a more commanding option than either of our present two

So two keepers in the division are loanees without much experience and folk are criticising Crawford for giving our own highly-rated youth keeper a chance? Seems a bit like double standards and its a bit reactionist to get on Cammys back after one bad game - the lad will mature as he goes along and plays more games. I don't remember there being the same reaction when Greg Patterson was given his chance over Greg Fleming - I still wonder what could have been if he hadn't had that injury.

Biggest problem for me at the moment is the tactical set up of the midfield and attack in the team rather than the keeper!

Hey PUP

It all makes sense who you modelled your game on now ;-)

Last week we were singing Gills praises for his display against Ayr Utd. He is a young player, like the majority of our team. Inconsistency is what you get with young players. We knew this at the start of the season

East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

It's good to see him getting a chance, he is obviously well thought of. I would have preferred if he had been sent out on loan to get some proper games under his belt in a lower league first though. Give him a chance to learn from mistakes, get some experience and build some confidence. Last year he should have spent the year at Cowdenbeath or a team at that level, it would have done him much more good than wasting a year in the reserves here

I think he was at Arbroath some time in the past but we recalled him a short time into the loan

He couldn’t get in the team when he was at Arbroath - there is no point him going out on loan elsewhere unless he is going to play.
