Thank Christ that's not us!

The law locks up the man or woman,
Who steals the goose from off the common.
But leaves the greater villain loose,
Who steals the common off the goose.
And geese will still a common lack,
Until they go and steal it back.

Lot of money and maybe he thinks the SPL will give him as big rewards as the EPL.He'll get a shock.

Incredible, how on earth are they going to get this back, plus this seasons upcoming huge loss, and the next one after.

Even if they get promoted, they would need almost an entire new squad.

I always thought both Dundee teams would sell their stadia, but even this wouldn't cover much.

He was in the press about aiming for europe....so a preliminary round knockout covers this?

They will be needing to cash-in on Shankland sooner rather than later with those accounts. Those numbers are absolutely unsustainable, even if they get promoted. One senses that the clock is ticking at Tannadice.

One year ago they were only adrift by £220k.

Wages are at 133% of turnover and that is unsustainable.

How costly those missed penalties at St Mirren were.

Their wages increased 39%.

Parallels of us in the 2000s.

They already sold off their training ground. Do they own the stadium?

On another post, I mentioned that they know that they are going to have to spend around a £million on their stadium. If they don't go up they will be in serious trouble unless the new American owner spends big.

This is a club that has had more than their fair share of transfer income, Gauld and Robertson.
Where does it all go?!

Wasn't some of it used to pay off the Thompson family debt?

Even the Thompson family ploughed their inheritance into the club, the Gauld etc Money went into simply running a football club with large cists, replacing them with donkeys on high wages.

Its unclear how much shankland would be worth though.

Oh, and the entire management team just signed new contracts....so if they don't go up?

Arabs fans are talking about administration as if it's simple, well we are proof that it has to be avoided at all costs-will take years to get on an even keel.

Cheats. Pure and simple. With the resources they have there is absolutely no need to be spending at that level.

A quote from the new owner, Mark Orgren, in advance of today's AGM :-

“We feel, though, looking at everything, we can’t manage the club as if we are going to stay in the Championship.”

Expect another big loss this year. He must have deep pockets.

What's administration, 15 point deduction?
Won't get that back this season that is for sure.
All contracts null and void Shankland walks to the highest wage bidder!
Aye administration will help their deluded fans.

Does someone know if Scotland allows such a wages to turnover figure?

Presumably yes if they are at 133%.

I believe some clubs in England were sanctioned for that.

I thought limits were looked at but there were so many clubs who would fall foul of the rules.

In theory there's nothing wrong with investing. A club like Celtic may invest more than their income to guarantee big rewards in the Champions League later. Investing £3-4m on getting into the Scottish Premier is daft...as we know to our expense!

In the Prem. Our crowds would be 4000, jumps to 4500 and no more if we are doing well.

Dundee utd probably 5000 no higher than 6500 even if they are chasing OF, can't see how anyone can think this is a speculate to accumulate business....it's just burning money.

A bit like us in the Masterton era, I could never understand how our crowds paid the supposed wages of our "star" players.

That would be cos they didn't. I also wondered how Dundee could afford to pay the wages of international stars like Claudio Caniggia round about the same time.

Remember the brothers Marr...... better looking by far..... 🙂

To cover £4m they'd need to double their attendance. Dundee is a little over double the size of Dunfermline but has a team literally next door. You've also got a Premiership team in nearby Perth (albeit poorly supported!).

Basically, not a chance in hell of doubling. So then they need to become a selling club or a merchandising club. The former is more likely but then they tried that before and got relegated.

Correction, last season they were in Prem their mean attendance was 5700, OF etc took it up to 8500-still not enough to pay off vast debts, as well as increased costs?
