 Winning The Toss.

This is the one fixture where this impacts on the game.

Dick Campbell will hope to force us to KO facing the Home End, where the 3500fans will be huddled.

Then,in the second half ,we play towards the empty away Stand with all the atmosphere of the Moon!

Don't give a toss for the toss, we should win this game.

I predict a 3-0 home win.
Onwards and upwards.

If the Pars fans sing as much and as loud as they did at the Dundee Utd game, the players won't care or notice where they are seated.

The days of us being strong in the 2nd half shooting towards the toon are long gone. If anything we're stronger in the 1st halves of games these days.

I'm sure Dick will be focussing on tactics rather than winning coin tosses.

Like our last home game?

It was hardly like back in the day, a la the Leish/Paton days....surely you must recognise that?

Winning or losing the toss and electing to kick a certain way when there's no obvious advantage is just superstition.

I'd happily lose the toss every week, in exchange for scoring the first goal. Our opponents would have to score at least two to beat us. Statistically, that only happens in about 20% of games, so that means we'd pick up points in 4 out 5 games. 😊

I think that would almost certainly clinch a top 4 finish.

Not your average Sunday League player.

Usually any change of end as a result of winning the toss is based on the playing conditions. If there is a low sun that's likely to hinder the keeper or if there is a strong wind.If there is nothing significant weather wise I always chose to take the kick-off as it's good to get an early touch of the ball.

In the early 1990s I interviewed Jimmy Nicholl, then a Pars player.

He had played at the highest level with Manchester Utd and Rangers and N Ireland.

Yet he told me that the atmosphere at the Home end in the dying minutes of a Match at East End Park, as you took corners and free kicks ,was something to behold.

Of course we had much larger Gates then.

Even so, taking a corner at the Home end in the dying minutes is,surely, rather different from being at the far end with nothing but empty seats around you.

When Craig Brown was Scotland manager he used to insist that we took kick off and blootered it out for a throw-in to the opposition as close to their own corner flag as possible almost like a rugby player finding touch. Can't say I agreed with it but he obviously thought it was a viable tactic to get the opposition defending as soon as possible.

I'm not sure you can pick kick off now if you win the toss. You automatically forfeit kick off to choose ends.... may have changed in the last couple of seasons but certainly 3-4 years ago was the case

Heard that a certain English player used to do that, to win first throw in bet, not saying he was a gambler!😲

Was that Matt Le Tissier?

Just found kick-off rules and seems you can choose kick off

3500 fans.... a bit over optimistic, I think we will be lucky to reach the 3000 mark actually in the ground, anyway the Norrie has the atmosphere of the moon anyway.
