 MOTM v Arbroath

For me it would have to be Lee Ashcroft. Let nothing go past him tonight. He was a tower of strength. Nice to see the passion when he squared up to the Arbroath player. Was never a booking to be fair. Referee took the easy option. It’s amazing what confidence can do to a player. Was always looking to build from the back. Followed up closely by Nesbit for his 2 goals. I also though Turner had a decent game.

Was definitely a booking, idiot to lay his had on the guy first. You shout in the guys face and square up to him, hoping he does that to you! That’s a smart defender, not giving the ref the easy option, basic defending.

Couldn’t argue with Ashcroft, however worth watching Paton’s two passes which led to both goals. The movement of Dow and Kiltie was good, actually thought Turner was the one disappointment.

Nisbet or Ryan.

Thought Turner was the weak link again and needs replaced by Beadling or Cochrane.

Tough one for all the right reasons.

Ashcroft - Good decision maker, confident - I would say calm but he has to deal with that better.

Lewis Martin has a very good game, seems to be overlooked despite being very reliable and consistently solid

Paton for me, instrumental in both goals, tidy in possession and he helps break up attacks.

Dow and Ashcroft both had very good games. Paton did a lot of good work that normally goes unseen and played a great ball to Nisbet for his second.

Aside from his two goals, Nisbet didn't have a great night. Let's hope I can type this line every week.

Ashcroft for me. Playing with more confidence now and his use of the ball is improving.

Nisbet for me - his confidence soared after the goals and he tried a few more shots after that. Sclaffs mind you but he kept going.

Dow and Martin after him.

Andy Ryan for me, followed by Paton and Martin. Altho, I'd say the only one who had a poor game was Turner.

Andy Ryan ran himself into the ground and his ball for Nisbets 1st was superb, Martin and Ashcroft looking like they are striking up a good partnership but overall it has to be Ryan Dow.

Ashcroft is the man in form. Is it coincidence that he is now back to being the player he was before he was appointed captain? Another good decision by Stevie Crawford I think.

There were lots of good performances last night though, which is what we need if we are to achieve a consistent run of results.

Ashcroft now looking like the player who did so well alongside Calum Morris. Perhaps benefitting from steady play from Lewis Martin beside him instead of having to cover for Devine.

I think it's the fact that he is playing on the right side of the central defence instead of the left that has made a big difference this season.

Dow was my MOTM - although there were 5 or 6 possible candidates. Thought Nisbet was poor overall - but if he can play poor and score twice in every game then it will be fine!

Ashcroft has been solid all season. Shaping up for player of the year in my view.
