How much money are they spending?

Will they overhaul the squad again?

Quite a few on here rated McKinnon as a manager if I recall correctly.

Agents Durnan, Longridge, Connelly and McManus seem to have done a good job so far this season.

They reckoned they would skoosh League 1 but Airdrie etc. haven’t read that script.

Gone all wrong off the park, now it’s spreading to results as well.

3 points from top- strange.

So they had to pay a fine (70K?) a second overhaul of a squad, and now a payoff.

The money they have haemorraged over the last couple of seasons or so has been ridiculous. They should be walking that League with the team they have in fairness but they are still in contention near the top so it seems a bit hasty.

Didn't see that one coming.

Of course I don't know how the team has been playing, but as others have said, they're only 3 pts off the top - hardly time to panic. Maybe the board thought they should be at least 10 points clear and cruising by now?

It'll be interesting to see how much of a bounce the new manager can produce with the squad he'll inherit. I wonder if some of the former Pars players they have now are among those who allegedly displayed a poor attitude last season?

From a personal perspective, I'd much prefer Grangemouth and the wee team to be in the Championship. Better atmosphere at games, as they bring a decent support compared to the likes of Alloa, Arbroath and QOS.

The team have been criticised from all corners for their negative approach to matches - often setting up not to lose when they are playing teams they should be beating - and while are only three points off the top, their record against the other top sides in the division is awful - something like 2 points from 12. Yogi Hughes, Oressley and Owen Coyle have all been mentioned but have had very little success over the last few years; it looks more like a name than a good coaching appointment. They gave a lot of 2 year deals to their new signings too, so they'll either be stuck paying big wages again in League Two or they'll come up with half a squad who have struggled to get out of the division. Lots of Falkirk fans not happy. Which is hilarious.

I was fairly confident this wouldn't be the stroll in the park a lot of folk on here predicted. Especially with the players they signed.

In answer to my own question, wouldn't it be good if Big Yogi got the job? If it's true that some of the squad are swinging the lead, we might get another epic rant like the one he gave at the San Starko. ☺

Bumped into Hughes a wee while ago, not sure what the back story was but he gave a definite impression there was a burnt bridge there and he would not return.

Should still win that league at a canter with a half decent replacement given the squad they have.

And have 10 teams playing for nothing from february onwards.
The 10 team league with play offs has meant teams generally have a play off on the horizon until very late in the season

I'm no fan of playing other teams 4 times a season, but your proposal to combine the Championship and League 1 is the stuff of madness.

Leaving aside the excellent objections raised by Westie, above, why would any sane person, want to replace two games v Dundee, Dundee United, Partick etc. with two against Stranraer, Peterhead and Stenhousemuir. No disrespect is meant to those teams, but they carry such a small support that there's no atmosphere at games, never mind the drop in income which our club so keenly relies on.

I personally hate the 10 team league, I'm also of the opinion we have too many "professional" teams. There is of course some great history but I fear we've held ourselves back which has contributed to poor club / international form. It might be a slightly selfish view but I'm not really convinced by the current pyramid structure and I think it's something that needs to change. I'm not clever enough to come up with a solution 😂 but it just feels very stale to me.

In an ideal world, we'd have two leagues of 18, with 3 down, 2 automatic promotions and a 3rd via a play off. In Scotland, there is too much disparity among the top clubs to have larger leagues - even with a 12 team Premiership the top 2 are miles in front.

I'm not sure how reducing the number of "professional " teams would improve those who were left. Presumably, you're talking about some of the smaller clubs? e.g. How would demoting Cowdenbeath to the amateur ranks, help the Pars or Raith?

Two leagues of 21 no split where the team below you can finish with more points 4 up 4 down no play offs ......simples

If the top two bolted (or were pushed), 2 leagues of 20 teams would be optimal.

You know its quite interesting that before we changed to 3 points for a win in 1994 there were several teams who won the league ....Third Lanark, Motherwell, Hearts, Hibs, kilmarnock, Aberdeen, Dundee, Dundee Utd..... It was mooted at the time that 3 points for a win would favour the Bigger teams as they drew less games and so it has turned out with only Celtic and Rangers champions since 1994

Then the breakaway in 1997 to form the greedy premier league to give the bigger clubs more revenue and fek the rest and we have witnessed the demise of Scottish football ever since

Difficult to argue against teams winning most games to be rewarded more than those who drew.

You need to be a fair age to mind Third Lanark winning the league - in fact I doubt anybody much under 60 can remember them at all !!!

Not a too dissimilar appointment to the one we made. however a little more underwhelming if you're a Falkirk fan. They seem happy on social media because Lee Miller is apparently some sort of god. The last time they got that excited about the appearance of footballers they ended up relegated. Hopefully history repeats itself.
