Delighted for Potts. He's a smashing guy and the move is a no brainer for him. His family moved back to Fife from Sunderland earlier this year while he was coming up a couple of times a week.

I'm sure the family - and John himself - will be delighted that he'll be home every night from now on.

He was far to inexperienced to take on the managers role at the pars at the time but can definitely see him being a manager in a couple off years.
I heard he brings the youth boys on and he’s a great coach/ guy so all the best.

Many of the younger players in the squad have said that JP has been the biggest influence on their career and has helped them improve as footballers.

There's no doubt he's an excellent coach, but he found out the hard way that being a manager is a very different job. Stepping up to be Jack Ross' assistant at Easter Road may give him the experience he needs to have another crack at the top job in the future.

I believe he still has the belief and ambition to be his own man when an opportunity presents itself. I hope some club gives him that chance.

Hounded out of EEP by the usual .net reactionary drama queens.

Da no 1 - do you just spend your entire life just waiting for the opportunity to slag off other posters on here? - it is becoming extremely tiresome - you come across far more negatively than those you criticise.

I wish John all the best in his new role - perhaps you could do the same.

Da can speak for himself, but I strongly suspect his tongue was firmly in his cheek there. JP readily admits he wasn't ready for the manager's job at EEP. He wasn't helped by the fact that he inherited a squad who were low on confidence and going backwards. He tried to remedy this by bringing in half a dozen new players in the January transfer window. Unfortunately, they proved no better than the players he already had.

I only wander on here every now and again not like the good old days. Nearly every time I do there's a pearler from Berkey or EEP that I try to ignore but can't.

Must try harder

Well deserved move- he seems to be a top coach, handled himself with utmost integrity when he was with us.

Some coaches make the move to manager, but if you are a high level, seems more specialised- he could be at Hibs or higher for years.

Worked out well- he was certainly loyal to us.
