Supporting Scotland's just like supporting the Pars. I might not like what I see but I always 'care'.

I definitely care much more about Scotland than the pars these days but I don’t know why I’m bothering to stay up to watch this.

for me Palmer gave the ball away again and from there it's played across our back four and diabolical defending as usual by McKenna backing off and giving them the chance to shoot ,
some strike though !!

McKenna is the new Lee Wilkie. What’s all the fuss about with him? We are halfway through our worst ever result. It doesn’t even hurt anymore.

You're welcome! Firstrowsports often has a dodgy feed but you're honestly missing nothing apart from an excellent strike by the Kazakhs which you'll get on the highlights.

Tackle on Forest looked like a red card to me.He was nowhere near hitting the ball but got the man well.

Agreed - looked even worse on the replay I thought as you saw Forrest was already past him when he definitely decided to half him from behind. Wasn't an accidental miss-timed effort.

John McGinn again with a goal. Probably one of only 3 players I'd have in that team no questions asked

Team X is worse than Team Y, so you're unable to enjoy Team X comfortably beating Team Z?

Also, John McGinn has gone from meh to easily our best player in a single campaign

You beat what is in front of you so watch the game there not dream of us getting thrashed by a better team.A bit like watching Dunfermline and knowing they wont thrash Barcelona.

Great second half, well done Scotland. The defence look a bit ropey but midfield were very good in the second half.

6 goals and 2 assists from JM. Can't remember the last Scottish player to get near those stats after 8 qualifying games played

Such as who?

Belgium, Spain, England, Germany and France? What an insightful groundbreaking observation that is....

So what's your plan? Give up? Or try to build momentum for at least one, hopefully two games in March that may lead us to qualify for a finals for the first time in 21 years?

We were absolute garbage in the first half and decent in the 2nd after a couple of lucky breaks. We do have a decent midfield. Don't see much wrong with what's been said in this thread.

No surprise that you can't find anything positive to say right enough

We've been 'so far' off the top sides for decades.

Dunfermline Athletic will always be 'so far' off the top club sides.

Do we give up then?

Went to game with few expectations. When I got there it started raining and about the emptiest I've seen Hampden for a Scotland game. Started to wonder why I bothered. Really enjoyed the second half though. Also got away really quickly as traffic much lighter than usual.

Opposition may not have been great but when did Scotland last have 20 plus shots in a game? - our midfield looks good and defence will improve with Robertson and Tierney - we desperately need Griffiths back playing though - I believe he played a development game yesterday.

I know Shankland was sent home but i’d liked to have seen him in yesterday - is he injured?

Sorry for my earlier comments DA - I get where you’re coming from with EEP 😂😂😂

Quite a strange campaign. On paper we have only had one disappointing result, most predictions at the start would have had us with 18points. But ultimately it has a feeling of a very unsuccessful effort. Good to string a few wins together ahead of a tough but winnable playoffs

Steve Clarke was the man for the job, and he is transforming Scotland who remain a work in progress.

He looks likely to take us to our first tournament since 1998.

About 19,000 were there on a cold wet night. It would have been a very different atmosphere had it been played in Edinburgh or Aberdeen.

It was all the more commendable given the players who are unavailable,eg Robertson,Tierney and Griffiths.

I thought Taylor was very good last night, such a shame we are producing quality players who all play the same position

That’s three left backs in Robertson Tierney and Taylor

I not sure about "likely to take us to our first tournament since 1998" tbh. There's a couple of hard games before that happens. We'll play either Romania, Bulgaria, Israel or Hungary (to be drawn on Friday) at Hampden and if we win that we'll play the winners of the Serbia/Norway semi which may be away from home. A full squad and we're in with a shout though.

Thought Palmer was good too. Got forward a number of times and has pace to get back and cover if he's caught up field.

Just watched the highlights and was impressed by the tempo Scotland played at. Naismith is a very important player in what is a relatively inexperienced side.

Second half 1-0 down quite a lot of players would have chucked it as they have a big game at the weekend, right down to the last minute guys were tracking back ,putting tackles,a really good attitude which goes well for the future.

McGinn playing just behind Naismith looks the way to go for the Play Offs. Robertson and perhaps McTominay would be the only changes I would make to the team last night.
Looked very good in that 2nd Half.

I watched Malta run Norway very close at Ta Qali during the week.

Scotland has nothing to fear from the Scandinavians on that showing.

Watched the highlights again & it appears to be a better first half when edited! Some decent build up & chances. We gave away a really sloppy goal but apart from that we play some pretty tidy stuff. Just a pity we have so many options at LB & in midfield but little at the back & upfront. Naismith linked up well with McGinn. Keep those two fit & we MIGHT have a chance after all.

Norway also drew 1-1 with Spain and lost narrowly - 2-1 - in the away game.

Based on that, they're better than us.

first half wasnt bad, lots of possession however we seemed to be a little sluggish. Second half we played similar but with greater tempo and that was the difference, we were able to get in behind as passes were made quicker, movement was sharper, more space to get a shot away when in and around the box. Christie is a real talent and speed of play in second half suited him perfectly. Taylor and Palmer stand outs along with Jack not only last night but against cyprus as well.

Not getting carried away as the 3 wins were San Marino, cyprus and Kazakhstan however overall campaign we were 1 result from following the expected results based on seedings and with Clarke in charge have seen enough to suggest that in future campaigns there is scope to close the gulf between ourselves and the pot 2 sides.

Norway will be no pushover and have arguably the best striking talent in the world just now with Harland who is smashing goals in for absolute fun with RB salzburg

The kid is miles behind some of the real striking talent - Aguero, Griezman, Vardy, Lewandowski and other top league strikers. Not denying his ability but he's nowhere near the best talent in the world right now.
