Paton and Ryan for Cochrane and Turner the two changes.
Good to see McDonald on the bench
(in saying that the bench looks attack heavy. )

That midfield area looks a bit light, physically. Will be a night to stand up and be counted.

Is it a 4-2-3-1 ?

Is Paton suspended?

Paton not suspended, off at half time on sat so must have been a knock.

Big game for beadling I reckon. Although it’s a big game for the 3 in there who will need to compete well. Turner due is a decent performance.

The Ayr player should really have scored after taking it around a couple of players in the box, but from about 8 yards out Gill stayed tall and made a good block, if given him some stick but that was good goalkeeping.

I think he's alright, some fresh legs on upfront.

We're sitting quite deep and inviting Ayr onto us, in fairness they look clueless as to how to break us down.

On the flip side some poor goalkeeping from Gill there, long aimless ball into the box which should've been his but he was rooted to his line, from the ensuing pressure we win a free kick but Gill gets an earful from a defender.

Main striker scores the winner away from home against a top 4 team.

Clean sheet.

5th win in 7 league games.

Into the top 4.

Yet the same dork finds something negative (which isn't even nearly true)

What a pathetic way to go about "supporting" your team.

It's all about balance and keeping a sense of perspective.

I was never that worried about the team, even when we were struggling to pick up points, as you could see what we were trying to achieve.
Now, we have gone on a decent run, other than the Stranraer game, but equally, I won't be going overboard.

We are a work in progress and generally improving. Let's hope we can find a left-sided Ryan Dow soon.

When things go our way more so, when against...no...he doesn't excite me or make me want to bust a gut to be there or believe he can inspire a fight back...
But that doesn't really matter if results go their way.
I want the Pars to win..end of and I enjoy it..
If we can get a bit of momentum against those we should be competing against confidence levels will undoubtedly rise.
I'm just a very amateur commentator mind😂

Well that was long drawn out at the end- the ref seemed to let play go on and on and it was backs to the wall. Gill had two super saves in that last 10 min spell.

First half was very scrappy although we had two good chances , Nisbet with a header straight at the keeper and someone brought out a good save from the keeper with a low shot.

Ashcroft was down injured for a long while and had his head bandaged. He struggled through the rest of the half although didnt put a foot wrong. I wasnt surprised he didnt re- emerge for the second half.

Second half better, we kept shape which looked mostly like a 4-1-4-1 which largely worked .

We had the better of second half chances with Doolan saving on the line when we really should have scored. Our goal was well structured and finished by Nisbet.
Last 10 mins we sat deeper and deeper inviting them on.They created a few chances and Gill pulled off a few cracking saves -I hope Parstv captured them.Andy Ryan was inches away at the end from sealing it.

All in all a good result, notable performances from Cochrane and Turner and Comrie. I thought Ashcroft was excellent in the first half. I hope that wasnt him with his left arm in a sling at the end?

One criticism of Ayr, they didnt return the ball at a throw in after Gill intentionally put the ball out of play close to our 18 yard line. Ayr immediately played the ball into our penalty box and had a sustained period of pressure.Very very unsporting.

Good win.

Ayr were solid enough but poor going forward. Typically of them, in December they hit their annual slump. Watch them tumble down the table now for the rest of the season.

We did the Crawford thing after getting our goal. Shut up shop, drop deep and occasionally threaten on the break, grinding out the result. Something AJ could never really do.

Well done to the team. Hope our £2.5 million striker is ok for Saturday... 😉

It was a really good performance and deserved win. It was scrappy to begin with but after about 20-25 minutes we got on top and became more threatening, we were well worth the goal when it arrived - it was a quality goal as well. After that we started to drop deep and gradually gave away the initiative, fairly understandable and it wasn't really until the last 10 minutes Ayr managed to create a few dangerous chances.

It was really encouraging though and a win which shows the improvements in the squad. A lot of players that taken some criticism stepped up; Gill with a few great saves, Devine won everything, Cochrane was dynamic in the middle, Beadling back to the form we were expecting and Edwards gave us more balance. Add that to the fact we have some of the league's best players in their position playing at a consistently high level: Ashcroft, Kiltie, Comrie, Dow & Nisbet and will get results.

There is a gradual improvement which is understandable as it takes time for teams with many new players to gel. There are definitely more positive than negative signs though.

4million parrot? That’s yesterday’s news, it’s now 5 million plus 50% sell on fee or don’t even bother.

Interesting the team did a job without paton too, great to see beadling coming onto a game, I’d have him as the protection for the back 4 allowing Cochran’s and turner or Thomson to make the runs forward. We’ll certainly have been mobile in there last night..

Shame about Coley if he has returned to Norwich. Maybe just came up to us a bit too raw for the Scottish game. If he has indeed left we will probably need to look at signing another winger in January if possible. Hopefully McDonald will be allowed to stay the remainder of the season and can become a useful asset. On that note, hopefully we can keep Cochrane, Kiltie and McDonald as they can all do a job at this level

Of the 3 I think Kiltie is the most likely to stay.

Surely that was a penalty when Doohan wiped out Nisbet? He was nowhere near the ball!

Of the 3 I think Kiltie is the most likely to stay.

I'd be concerned he wasn't allowed to play in the cup game if Killie had no intention of recalling him.

It should definitely have been a penalty. Didn't think we got much from the ref last night.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Didn’t know coley had left, he wasn’t up to scratch so prob no point in him coming up here just to sit on the bench, Might have freed up another loan slot to use in January if needed.

Good to see Cochrane contributing, long time coming and he’ll be under pressure with Thompson coming back.

king lad have you seen much of McDonald? He hasn’t set foot on the park for us as far as I can see so no idea what he can do, will do well to get in ahead of kiltie and Dow who have been positives so far this season and would like to keep into next year if possible

''Lang injured and think Coley has returned to Norwich.''

SC confirms that Coley has returned to Norwich to be treated for an injury, not because his loan has been ended prematurely.
