Seemed harsh but the handball laws seem a bit odd these days anyway (although I thought the ball rebounding off the ground or hoie own body was taken into account in these situations?). Will have to wait on a replay to see how far the keeper was off his line but that seemed quite harsh too. We had deserved to be ahead mind you, and Morton can't just sit in as they were doing so hopefully it opens things up a bit and we take full advantage.

So happy that we are keeping the ball on the ground. Morton are struggling with that.

Tight game and the conditions are treacherous underfoot. More goals to come through mistakes.

Thought it was an obvious penalty, and if the Linesman has seen Rogers off his line then it's a retake, Maybe harsh on Nisbet but I don't actually feel that confident when he's on a penalty, his retaken one was better but they're not terribly powerful and not far in the corner, if the keeper goes the correct way he's likely to save it.

He's been good again today though, hitting the post. Morton are a very direct team, that suits neither of there strikers but I do worry for us when Sutton comes on.

A deserved lead at the moment though, keeping the ball on the deck, allot to be happy about.

It is difficult to express just how totally dominant Dunfermline have been in the first half. There has been quite a lot of rain and the conditions are heavy and slippy.

The Pars have been first to every ball and as a result, Morton are offering absolutely no threat to us. We got a penalty after 20 minutes which Danny Rogers saved going to his left, but the referee ordered the kick to be retaken as he believed the Morton keeper had stepped off his line before the ball was kicked. Kevin Nisbet made no mistake with his second offering, shooting firmly to the keeper's right.

On the first-half display, you would have to say that Morton have got to be in danger of relegation. There is nothing there that fills you with any belief that they are a Championship team of any consequence.

We need another goal or two just to make sure of victory. We should never underestimate David Hopkin. I would like to see McDonald get his debut today. We certainly need a bit more threat from the left. All our best play has come from Comrie and Dow so far.

COYP!

Great win and some proper momentum now. Although I guess we should acknowledge that the real winner today is Steven Gerrard.

Crawford has to take a lot of credit after a lot of false dawns.

The team is now starting to pick itself.

Dow - Nisber - Kiltie

They are starting to read each other's game & pose a formidable threat to any defence in this league.

Turner - Beading - Cohrane - Thomson

We now have plenty of options in midfield.

Anyone coming into the present team has a job on their hands fighting to get a place.

Keep up the good work Pars.

A decent performance, 3-1 about right. Dow excellent again and good contributions from everyone else.

Nisbet revealed far too much about his penalty technique with his interview on COWS; stating clearly he chooses a corner before hand and keeps his shots low. Given that he also sidefoots them, the keeper has almost a 50/50 chance of saving it, because if he guesses right, he likely will - as happened with the first one. I know he actually has a very good record from penalties but I think now he will have to alter his technique a little. Either he tries to wait until the keeper moves before choosing his spot or hitting some with the laces down the middle and into the bottom left corner or sometimes going for the top corner. Either way I hope he keeps getting lots of practice! There was a clear penalty on Dow right on half time which somehow the ref gave as a Morton freekick.

That was a really good win and, despite a tough spell in the second half, it was well deserved.

We were very comfortable in the first half with a deserved lead and having never been under any pressure at all. Certainly looked a penalty to me - it's only if it hits off your own body before the arm that it won't be given for something like that and that didn't seem to be the case. About time we got one of those given the number we;ve had against us this season.

Second goal was a bit bizarre - looked to me that he was just trying to run into space and the ball happened to break straight to him and off his foot. From then it was a bit sticky - we were very deep and didn't seem to adjust to the change in Morton's style. It looked like they just went man for man at the back and went all-out attack. Although they hadn't forced any real chances, t wasn't too much of a surprise that they scored as the ball had been pinging around our box a lot before that.

A sub was needed and although the change made was obvious, it was good to see the change made without letting it go too long. It did help a bit and we became a bit better on the break as well. That third goal was an absolute peach - there didn't look to be any chance of scoring from there unless it was an absolutely perfect finish, but a near-perfect finish is what it was, placed very nicely across the keeper into the corner.

Tough conditions to play in today, but the second half was pretty good. It was a well-deserved win, but things did go our way with the retaken penalty and a break of the ball for the second goal. We were the better side and hopefully would have won even without those, but when there's so littel between most sides it really does make a big difference when something goes your way at the right time.

Angus we have made paton captain, do you see him coming back in and who deserves to be dropped, for me we stick with the current line up.

Out of interest who was captain today with no Ashcroft?

Socks has summarised the game really well. We got a bit of luck when it mattered and Morton were much better than their away record would have you believe.

At 2-1 they looked the more likely side to score the next goal, until Nisbet popped up with that peach to clinch it.

I overheard a man in the main stand before the game saying he had money on Nisbet to score the first goal, a double and a hat trick. I thought he'd got a bit carried away at the time, but he must have made a tidy wee profit...

Berkey.........

I don't know the answer to the Paton/Captain conundrum??

It was always going to be a tricky situation. Do you drop your captain to suit your style of play?

He still has a role to play - Probably more so away from home where we will be more defensive & compact at the back. He's good in front of the back four breaking up & linking play.

Tricky one......

Well deserved win in crap conditions today.
Morton changed their formation a lot and good on the team adapting to the changes.
Another good result and keep it going!
