Faissal on his way to Morocco
Topic Originator: buffy
Date:   Tue 14 Jan 18:31

From the QoS website:

“ The Club have reluctantly agreed to let Faissal El Bakhtaoui leave the club.

The attacking midfielder has attracted attention from the Moroccan Federation and in order to allow him to play international football he has to play in the Moroccan league.

Therefore we have accepted an undisclosed fee from Moroccan side, Difaa El Jadidi for the 27 year old who has been a regular since his arrival in the summer.

A gutted manager, Allan Johnston said “We are devastated to lose Faissal, but as a club we felt it would be unfair to deny him the opportunity to play International football. He has become a fans favourite and an important part of the side during his short spell with us so will be a big miss. However he leaves with our best wishes and we look forward to seeing how his career progresses”.

Good luck to the lad, despite never being able to recapture his form upon his return to us, that league one season he was so fun to watch and genuinely got you out of your seat every week. Wish him all the best and hope he can play to the highest level possible

Going by the wording, it sounds like they want him for the team for the other African Cup of nations that can only include domestic based players

We love Dunfermline We do!

I did wonder about that as he wouldn't get near their main team.Looking at their squad they have players all around Europe at the top clubs.Must be the Morocco 'A team' that are interested as they only play domestic based players.Similar to the B team Scotland had under Bertie Vogts-think Andy Smith may have been called up at one point?

Good luck to him.

Hang on... I've not really been following Faissal since he left us but when did he become an attacking midfielder?🤔

African Nations Championships played between the best national teams of Africa, exclusively featuring players who are active in the national championships and qualified to play in the ongoing season. Expatriate players, regardless of where they play, even in Africa, are not qualified to take part in the tournament.

Morroco won the last tournament held 2 years ago.

Best of Luck to him. Still remember that Brechin game where we clinched the title and probably the best hat trick I've seen at a game.

Awight Pat!

well before Berti era. Still Craigy Broon in the hotseat and in build up to France 98. Smith played and crocked 2 keepers as scotland lost out 2-1 to Norway at Tynecastle 21st april 1998.

Wow, one decent season in League 1 is now enough to make you an international for a half decent nation?!

Morocco must be struggling! Wish Faiss all the best but I'm not sure a poor Championship striker is the answer.

Faissal was the best player we had since administration, even though he only really reached full potential in one season.

Only players that came close were Cardle and Scully (again for only one season).
