 Saturday night games

Aberdeen are looking to move thier Saturday home game v Hibs from 3pm kick off to 6.30 or 7.30 pm .
Their new chairman is keen to try out new ideas ,thinking those that play on a Saturday would be able to attend a night game.
The Dundee v Motherwell cup game had a poor home attendance ,wether that is due to their poor form or the time of kick off is unsure.

The fact the Dundee-Motherwell game was live on BBC tv would have had an impact on the attendance.

The fact that Aberdeen have a tie up with Atlanta FC ,later kick offs would be better for American coverage.

Bit rich coming from Aberdeen after the amount of moaning they’ve made over the last few years about the hassle caused to their fans having to travel to games with inconvenient kick off times.

Wouldn’t be happy if I was a Hibs fan.

Do Hibs have a say in this ?

They don't get any % of the gate so why would they have any incentive to accommodate AFC ?

Also, how do the majority of home fans feel ?

Hibs are being asked by Aberdeen about this ,and with a view to have the alternate game at Easter road at the same time if Hibs do wish ,and maybe donating cash to Hibs to fund cheaper travel for away fans

Saturday night games are fairly commonplace on the continent but there's never been a tradition in Scotland. I suppose the only way to see if there's an appetite among fans for this slot is to suck it and see.

On the one hand, it would allow some folk who work or play on Saturdays the option of attending, on the other it would inconvenience away fans, but no more so than midweek games. In fact, it is better than midweek games, since most people don't work on Sundays. If they're also off on Saturdays, they'll have plenty of time to get to the game and don't have to worry about getting up early next morning.

None of this is any guarantee that it would prove popular with the fans, of course, but you can see why some clubs might be keen to explore this time slot.

Not your average Sunday League player.

Bristol Ciry used to always play on a friday night, not sure if it was because of rugby on Sat.

Sure aberdeen tried this before against us as well? Got free tickets from Craig brown for the game after we helped him when he broke down after a scotland game couple of months before.

I recall that game sure it was 2011, not sure if it was moved for TV coverage but there was a bigger than usual crowd at that. I was living in Aberdeen at the time and it ended 4 or 5 nil. Was absolutely dire.

Awight Pat!

Did Tranmere not try something similar years ago to? They thought if they played on a Fri night they could get Everton and Liverpool fans to come along.
