Didn’t go to a tribunal and Raith were furious to get nothing. They messed up and we got it right.

Much better, we were dire until the goal but very good after. The centre backs were both much better, having Murray in the defence anywhere helps. McGill was a bit slow in possession a few times but he held the ball up well and was a physical nuisance, there is evidence of some understanding forming with Nisbet which is good. If Nisbet keeps scoring then McGill can happily play this role. Paton was good, and encouragingly getting forward and playing more quick forward passes. We will score goals with Dow and Thomas on the wings, happy days to have a left footed winger, able to cross the ball from the byeline and low and behold we score from it. Dow is excellent at attacking the ball and with Nisbet and McGill in there we are a lot more threatening. Similarly Comrie and Murray also got forward to really good effect, Comrie was unlucky not to get a goal in the second half. We have a really strong combination down both wings now.

On the odd occasions when we have sold players for a fee in the past, we have always grabbed the first offer made due to our financial circumstances.

If we wait until the summer and Nisbet continues to progress as he is, how much can we realistically expect to get?

No way we'll sell him this month unless it's for stupid money and we have a replacement brought in, in addition to replacing Ryan in any case. I guess the hope is to offer him a new contract if he stays beyond the summer, or we sell him in the summer for a good sum of money. If he continues this scoring streak he will be gone, a lot of English clubs could easily afford that transfer fee and wage demand. I guess the hope is, identify a target for the summer in case he does get sold, get a good transfer fee and sell on for him and then hope to do the same thing with another player. That's what the club is looking to do and that's the way we'll get back to the Prem (whenever that day will be)

A club like Hamilton Accies were, frankly ,transformed by the add on fees for McArthur and McCarthy and it would be wonderful to think Dunfermline could emulate that.

The influence of Stevie Crawford on Kevin is there for all to see.

Agreed. That's why favourable comparisons to McBurnie don't hold water. I'm not a fan of McBurnie tbh but Nisbet will be viewed as unproven by higher level clubs so any bidding war will involve low numbers.

If I remember rightly they got offered up to £200-250k in the January before his contract ran out in the summer. Would've taken that tbh. Ideally we don't want to end up in the same situation, ideally we sell him in the summer for a good fee + sell on clause, have a replacement lined up and repeat. That would really help the club grow.

Its unlikely that Nisbet will move this month, yes he is a start in the making, his goals are great and you can see that he will go far.

He is a lad that has his feet firmly on the ground now especially having to take a step back to move forward. He is also unlikely to go and play for the reserves somewhere as that would kill his enthusiasm for the game again I think.

Nisbet also has a lot of respect for Crawford and is enjoying his game as we saw the reaction on Friday night. He is also still a bit raw with the missed opportunities he had as well. another year with us and he will be outstanding, he is far more capable than Shankland and has more to offer too.

So I hope that he is with us for next season for the reasons stated that way he will be able to choose better clubs that will be after him, they will be queuing up.

As much as I'd like to get him on a longer contract - he is playing in a team that is under performing - I suspect his agent will look at maximising his current form to get him as big a deal as possible

Unless he sees a bigger picture, we won't be able to improve/extend his contract he will likely want to progress to a higher level/wage.

With this in mind, all the higher end 6-figure prices are fantasy.

As others have said, and with some reluctance, we will probably see him move on at the season end in order to cash in on his performances.

If we see anything above £250k I'll be "happy".

I thought that he had an extra year and is contracted until 2021, although I might be wrong.

I would rather miss out on a fee in January than get relegated because we have no one to put the ball in the net.

I think we will all be holding our fingers and toes crossed until Saturday.

I've been impressed with him everytime I've seen him live or online.

His movement has got better and his technique of passing into the net is really developing.

Hes still young, misses a few chances still and needs to learn a bit more hold up play and not being too eager to try and run himself to the goal everytime. I think hes got a great mentor in Crawford to help him develop.

However, we have no recent history of developing young talent consistently and selling on as a success. So that will help suitors keep the value low.

I really hope we can see out january and see him grab another 10+ goals in the run-in and see what sort of offers we get in the summer. Anywhere between 250k and 500k would be a fantastic piece of business for the club

lets hope the new signings bag a goal or two as well as the assist to the club. no doubt Nisbet will benefit by the experience of most of the players he will play with and i'm sure all the team will benefit. you never know, he might not only be a target on others radar.

only 11 make the team, the rest can just but dream.

Good chance he could be a future Scotland international. He is still very young and has the ability to get better and better with experience.

I just hope Kevin Nisbet or the other players don't read the posts on this forum or even log into it. It wouldn't do their attitude or morale any good at all. To be treated as a commodity to be bought or sold at our whim is not the kind of proposition that would do their motivation to play their hearts out for the club any good at all. All of the players are human beings with other interests and ambitions outwith football and I doubt if they would appreciate the idea that their futures could be tossed back and forth by gameboy football managers like us. Give the lad a break. He is quite good but needs to take a good lot more of the guilt edged chances laid on a plate for him by his industrious midfielders.

Geez Paralex, a bit dramatic no? The reason for the transfer chat is because of how good his performances are not worse and let’s be honest if Nisbet is hearing of interest from other clubs in SPL, down south or even Italy if BBC happen to get something right then I’m sure he’ll be pretty excited and will spur him on to continue his form to push for that career changing move.

Crawford has been open saying we would never stand in someone’s way so providing we get a sensible offer and we have a plan in place to cater for his exit then all the best to him when the time comes.

Shankland being linked to the likes of Stoke and Southampton for somewhere in the region of £2-3m. Would be good news if that deal happens, sets a realistic price target for the top, top players in this division.

Of course they're a commodity, the only assets a Club has are it players, if you believe footballers aren't acutely aware of this, then you're completely way off the mark.

Stf this is about a boy progressing his career and us not standing in his way, not the club using him.

Of course he would, Gordi. Most League 1 clubs down south could offer him a better deal than United, I reckon. He could possibly end up in the Championship down there.

Would be suicide if we sold him this late in the window especially with the two other strikers we have largely unproven at this level. Unless it is an absolutely mental offer that we simply can't refuse then we should reject all offers. There should be no shortage of clubs for him to chose in the summer.

Perhaps he wants to stay, at least until he gets a massive offer in the Summer.

^^^^This^^^^^

I can't imagine that the BoD have factored in a large transfer fee into our budget calculations for this season, so let's keep him at least until the end of the season.

Of course, if he and his agent know of a lucrative offer and he's desperate to go, it wouldn't make sense to keep an unhappy player. ☹

Point taken but it sounds like what's being inferred is that the lad who's taken a step back in his career to try and work his way up to the highest standard he can play at would reject such an offer when it came along. When he could go off form or heaven forbid get a serious injury.
Can't see it personally.

<<< No one has even thought what the young lad wants for himself >>>

I would think he's got enough regard for SC and the club and the big boost to his career he's had since joining us that he'd be content to stay at least til the end of the season, and longer if he wants.

I would think he owes SC and the club that much, to see out at least half of his two year contract. Unless of course it's SC who says we've had an offer we can't refuse. I don't want to hear that. Roll on midnight.
