Would make a lot of sense. Arbroath would probably prefer that too as it’s a chance for a bigger crowd

We love Dunfermline We do!

The short notice may be an issue

Seems eminently sensible to me. If both clubs are happy to go with that date, I don't see why the notice period would be an issue.

When clubs draw a cup tie on a Saturday, the replay can be scheduled as soon as the following midweek or 10 days at the most.

Availability of Police will be the only stumbling block.
Their rotas may already be in place and any required for the match may not be on duty.

In Cup if you draw the replay is the following Saturday or the midweek after that - the clubs though can agree with SFA permission to play in the first midweek. As for Arbroath it would depend on their injury and suspension situation, what hospitality/sponsor arrangements are in place for March 4, maybe police agreement, weather forecast, etc - given no announcement thus far doubt it will happen

It's barely 12 hours since Arbroath were knocked out of the Cup!

Makes sense to change. Bigger crowd, part time players not working before, but will take a bit of time to sort remembering Arbroath are a part time club, but I would be very surprised if it is not rearranged for Saturday 8th Feb

Going by what happens to the Police based at my work, their roster can be changed almost at the drop of a hat if there is a requirement.
I'm not sure what restrictions there are on the ability of management to do that though!

Pars SLO has confirmed on Twitter that there are no plans to move this game as the pars 'have plans' arranged for the 8th, assuming a bounce game of some description.

I'm surprised the club didn't keep 8 February free to accommodate the possibility of a re-arranged fixture at Arbroath. Without a competitive game that day we will have a three-week gap between league fixtures which is hardly ideal.

Maybe the squad are going to have a Teqball competition on the 8th!

The 8th would certainly have been better for both sets of fans and keep a bit of momentum going with the fixtures.

If it was a bounce game why not just say, just as likely they have been given the weekend off and have made arrangements.

Looks like a mid winter break for us after Saturday 2 weeks off. I would have though that planning wise playing Arbroath on the 8th was a cert, there is still time for a bit of time off after that...….but hopefully there's some thinking behind this and its beneficial for the players.

Better playing part time teams during the week after players have worked.

Good that we haven’t moved it

Tayside Police will not have to cancel all Leave for a Gate, which, in winter, will not emulate the 1624 attendance last August.

The irony is that, being part time, they put themselves at a disadvantage playing the match midweek for the very reasons Par outlines.

They certainly struggled midweek in the cup against Falkirk, yet then played United on a Saturday and beat them. Bonkers.

I wondered if the league is more important than the cup to Arbroath. They are quite close to the promotion play off positions and if they can get there it would be a massive achievement and would bring in even more funds. Some of us older supporters will remember them being in the top flight before.
