 Pars rejecting offer for Nesbit
Topic Originator: DRreturns
Date:   Fri 31 Jan 09:07

“Dunfermline Athletic have rejected a £250,000 offer from Hibs for 22-year old striker, Kevin Nesbit”

On bbc gossip. Good news if true, the club need to be firm with Shankland poised to make a £3m move to Stoke. Nesbit is worth nothing less than £1m!

I’m here to take over!!

The Pars could still make playoffs and push for promotion. Club must hold strong the player has 18 months left on his contract. Has to offer over a million if we are to sell today.

£250k is a pretty derisory offer if true. On deadline day with little time for a replacement half way through the season, as said if shankland is valued at a few million I'd value Nisbet more towards £1 million than £250k

I would take decent money and an immediate loan back till end of season ( can that be done - or are we at the limit already) but if he were to move immediately that would be very disappointing.

Considering he has scoring stats are toe to toe with shankland. In my opinion he is also playing in one of the worst pars teams in years surely he has to be worth a similar falye to the 3 million that shankland is apparently worth

c'mon the pars

Can't get a loan back, we have 4 domestic loans (the limit). With 18 months left on his contract we shouldn't be under any pressure to sell, if he continues his form he'll be worth a lot more in the summer. Board have to remain firm

BOD have a big decision to make, I think £250 is cheap and we can hold out for more however if there is a significantly bigger offer £400/£500k then let’s hope the new Celtic kid is a ready made replacement

If a youngster like Bowie at Raith Rovers is genuinely going to Fulham for the reported £150k, it makes any figure for Kevin below £300k derisory.

Our Board have made it clear only an eye watering amount would make them budge.

And have we considered what the young man, himself, wants?

Many Scottish players have gone elsewhere in the U.K and hated it.

Half a million at this stage for me is the bottom line, given his age, his scoring stats and the demands for such a player.

£500,000 Would be a superb return for a player we got for Free only 6 Months ago. If we manage to hold onto him, The summer could be huge fee if the goals keep coming.

I am sure Jackie Mac will have a large part to play today in aiding the board.

The issue I've got is that, without Nisbet, we're in serious trouble of being relegated. To me, that makes his value significantly more than £500,000 to us given how much we could potentially lose without his goals to the end of the season.

£500,000 in the summer and he would definitely go I reckon. But now, we need to hold firm and not accept anything less than £1m.

This shows to me that board and SC's policy of buying young hungry players who can be developed is 100% correct and will work.

Unfortunately if the price is right for any player the timings of any departures will not be in our hands.

Hopefully 500k at the end of the season would be ideal. But if an offer for 1 million comes in today he will no doubt be off.

and if that happens the chances of that "bigger/better club" coming back in might drop.

every player has a price, if a club is willing to meet that so be it. yes the club don't want to lose him but im sure they will have a plan IF he goes on how to replace him today.

Derisory offer for the lad. If he ends the season in the same way he started it then no reason why we shouldn't be getting 1m for him from a club down south. Add in a sell on fee and it has been a great piece of business by stevie.

I'd be happy with an offer that breaks our record transfer fee received and includes some kind of sell on.

That record was set 25 years ago, it would be nice to break it.

If true I'd describe £250k as the offer of buyer to what they hope is a distressed seller.

Bringing in good youngsters in the hope that they will bring in some value later is a tried & tested method employed by many clubs. Trouble is, you've got to have the right people out there scouting them, develop a reputation for coaching them well, looking after them and treating them fairly. And even after you've done that there are no guarantees you will make money on them.

Whether we like it or not this is our reality going forward.

IF Hibs did make an offer surely they would've came back with an improved one by now.

As Craw said last week, Nisbet has a big role to play in the remaining games. He's not going anywhere in this window.

I'm a firm believer if the right offer comes in any player will leave, and rightly so. I am sure Crawford would have told all the players when he signed them that if the right offer comes in the club wont stand in their way.
We signed a team full of kids , all with the same aim, play good football , get noticed and move on to bigger and better things.

I was in the camp that anything around 250k-350k was a good return on investment at this stage and we would consider it

However, after just reading that West Ham are trying to buy youngster Jared Bowen from Hull City for 20million - screw that - 2m MIN for Nissy !

For that reason and because I think if Kev ends the season as top scorer in the champs, we should get a lot more than now, I say not for sale. Even a crazy amount offered now is only likely to increase interest and be eclipsed after the season ends.

Helping to keep us in the champs, or even to get promoted - either way is worth over a million. Sit tight til at least after the end of this season.

Need to make the most of having someone like him in our team, whilst financially it would be excellent when he inevitably goes would be a waste if we end up using him simply to be mid-table.

We need to seriously start pushing for these promotion playoff places.

400k is still nothing. We should be absolute rejecting that and if he continues banging them in, an English club will fork out 1mil plus in the summer.

According to reports, the club have already told Hibs he's not for sale in this window. Don't think it'll matter what kind of bid they put in. We'll be holding out until the summer anyway.

He carries on scoring and he'll get a much better, massive wage, transfer in the summer.Lets be honest is it in his interest to take around 3k now under contract or wait for the 10-15k he'll get down south.

It would make sense for him to play a full season in the championship and develop further. I doubt that interst will wain.

I've just logged on again after about five hours. Glad to see the club seems to be holding firm on not selling and that there's a lot of support on here for that. Well done SC et al and dotnetters! Six minutes to midnight. Still got the heebie-jeebies

Radio Scotland 5 mins ago, whilst doing a round up, said we had price of 400k for Nisbet which obviously wasn’t offered by anyone. Good!

Credit to the club if figures are to be believed (£350k-400k). In reality if it had come earlier in the window it would've been more likely to be accepted but with no time to get a replacement in, it would've been suicide to accept the offers. Great we had him on a two year deal, now we need to scout potential replacements for the summer when Nisbet will more than likely leave even if he doesn't perform quite as well as the first half of the season, hopefully for a slightly higher offer...

Im sure he will continue to play well for us. I think it would have been bad fir us and him if he had moved now. If he moves in the summer good luck to him. He seems to be enjoying his football with us at the moment

Looks like the club are showing a bit of ambition.

I don't think we'd go down, even without Nisbet. Holding on to him and adding the boys that have come in on loan suggests a push for the play off places I reckon.

I don't think SC is the messiah (or a very naughty boy) but I do think he's good at bringing in loan players that strengthen the team.

Hopefully the second half of the season looks a bit brighter.

The Dunfermline Board have done really well on our behalf. If the figure was around £300k it cannot have been easy.

They have shown ambition and courage fending off the bids.As others have said, the club would have had no time to find a replacement and the repercussions could have been disastrous.

Now we have a fully fit squad,an experienced talented goalkeeper and one of the most lethal strikers in Scotland.

One thing few of us asked was what did Kevin want? He seems happy at EEP and full of praise for the significant influence of Stevie Crawford.

Kevin Nisbet could go for double last night's bids come the summer.

Sliema par, I’m sure Stevie Crawford had his arm round Nisbet celebrating the win against Dundee. The two of them had huge smiles on their faces. Hopefully Nisbet wants to see out his contract with us and help us push for promotion this year & next.
If we do get promotion then he will be one of the main players who help us achieve it. Just like Faz helped with his superb season.
Nisbet has a chance to become a legend at EEP.

Just thank god it was hibs who were in for him, had it been a decent sized club down south he might have had his head turned but can’t imagine hibs would have been his dream club!

Just hope we get good money in the summer and use it well this time.

If we did reject two bids from Hibs then it makes up ( slightly) for selling Alec Edwards to them for £12,500

Sky Sports News is a good laugh for 5 minutes on “Deadline Day”. Very little happens in terms of big transfers now as opposed to a decade or so ago. Did they have The Sensational Sickly Jim White with his yellow tie on yesterday? Lol

Seen on Twitter that one his mates supposedly put a status out saying that he handed in a transfer request when the first bid was £200k and that he was fuming we didn’t let him leave.

Can’t see why he would he would let a mate do that and can’t see why he would considering he signed a 2 year deal 6 months ago.

Hopefully it’s all nonsense and he continues to do well for the remainder of the season!

I’m here to take over!!

Maybe he could replace Tammy Abraham?

Sounds like utter baws to me. A lot of rumours came out last night, Hibs fans spouting left right and centre. Nisbet knew the score when he came in and knew that the club wouldn't sell him on deadline day for that small a sum without a replacement ready to go. I'm sure the club will have told him we won't stand in his way in the summer when we can replace him
