Can’t be injured as you just wouldn’t take the gamble, would suggest it will be he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to start with the speculation

if youcast your mind back to the Dundee game he did take a heavy knock to the ankle and at one stage i thought he was signalling to come off - so perhaps just carrying a knock

Could be a slight knock and don't want to risk him from the start on the poor pitch.

Could be that he wanted a move and isn't in the mindset to play from the start.

Either way, its likely to settle by the time we play next. He'll score some goals between now and the end of the season and he'll leave for a decent fee.

Deep down he'll know that we can't sell him at the end of the transfer window whilst relegation and the promotion play-offs are both possibilities. A totally false economy unless it was some sort of 7 figure sum.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

Was speaking to him last night. Said he wanted to go to Hibs but accepted that the club wouldn’t let him go in the transfer window. He did reach an agreement with the club that they’d let him go in the summer though. Part of the agreement was a mutual decision not to play him on any plastic pitches in case he picks up an injury.

Sad to say, the Hibs stuff is true he doesn’t have his heart with us anymore. And if that’s the case, then he could well be a passenger for the rest of the season. I hope not and he sees the next few months as an opportunity to increase his value and get some interest from decent teams.
I’m just gutted he’s not in today cause I had him on my coupon to score first. As soon as the teams sheets came out I tried to cash out.

Too much speculation about Nisbet , a wee bit of patience and the truth will come out , right now he is a Pars player so it's up to him to do his best when he is playing and continue the good run of form he is in , this is what will maintain interest from teams if he is so desperately wanting away , and the knock on effect is DAFC get more cash
I think he is on the bench because he is carrying a knock ( again only speculation not a fact )

All speculation. I doubt that he has lost interest playing for us even there has been an offer from another club. The sensible option for him and the club would be for him to move on at the end ofthe season if thats what he wants.

He will go in the summer.

The Club will not stand in his way and neither should the fans.

The model is bringing talent in & letting it flourish with the chance to move on if things work out. If we handle this properly then all party’s will benefit.

IMO-We have been blessed with Nisbet - He is the best striker I have seen at EEP in over 4 decades of watching the Pars.

Let’s enjoy him whilst he’s still a Par.

Absolutely agree. Whether we like it or not he is head and shoulders above anyone else in our team and the frightening thing is he can only get better in my opinion. He is well on course for 30 plus goals this season and that along with securing a play off place would be a nice parting gift.

I also spoke to him last night. Can confirm he wanted to speak to Hibs, but understands the clubs position. He will be allowed to move in the summer, but as part of the agreement:

He will not start on plastic pitches, play when it rains, temperature must be above 10 degrees celsius, all players must pass to him when in the box and he will not play when a player "looks at him funny" during the warm up. Were others, but I can't remember them.

Absolutely but think of the posts on here about players on 2 year deals that fans want rid of sharpish. Some think that contracts only come into play when it benefits the club.

allparone makes the sensible pertinent comment that few of us mentioned Kevin's Wishes.

He seems very happy at East End and particularly grateful to Stevie Crawford.

I have felt rather rather uncomfortable at some of the sheer nonsense on this thread saying otherwise.

While we all debate his worth to the Club, here is a thought.

Lawrence Shankland has gone public in saying he would like to stay at Dundee United.

Is it not just possible that, were Dunfermline promoted,Kevin might wish to be part of our progress?

Prospective signings in the future could be influenced by the fact that we have a talented striker on our hands, it makes sense that talented players want to play with other talented players. If it ever emerges that he wants to stay and help our push up to the prem then I'd be more than happy to keep him.

As mentioned somewhere above, hopefully he can bang in enough goals to get us to the playoffs. He'll move on to bigger things in the summer.

He will be the perfect example of the opportunity we can offer promising younger players from the lower leagues and further afield: first team football and the opportunity to move up if you do well. That is our current model (as far as I can tell).

"Lawrence Shankland has gone public in saying he would like to stay at Dundee United."

The fact that DUFC are 99.9% going to be in the top league next season, and that they are being backed by a foreign moneyman to restore the club's status might just be a motivating factor there ?

Plus he'll be on a nice little earner at Tannadice.

Unfortunately the Pars situation is less settled.

"Is it not just possible that, were Dunfermline promoted,Kevin might wish to be part of our progress?"

The prospects for us being promoted are minimal IMO.

Sounds pretty plausible, he'll probably have a promotion wage increase clause as well. Personally think United should cash in on him whilst they can in the summer, I think he's a good player but I don't think he's worth more than a couple million, maybe in today's market he is. I would be surprised if they keep up their current form if Nisbet and Shankland stay through the summer given the money available down south to even the league one teams

Wasn't Hibs that has unsettled him. I was told today that Rangers did make an equiry (not an offer) as to his availability.

They were told he was a fundamental part of the plans to achieve a play off place and promotion and he would not be sold unless a bid which the club found too good to refuse was offered.

His agent jumped on the final part of the statement (despite being told he was not leaving) to Rangers and Hibs thought £400k was the offer which the club would find too good to refuse!

I believe they were told that was half his current value.

If he carries on banging in the goals he will be Ibrox bound in the summer at £800,000-£1m.

I reckon he could go for more down South personally!

If Nisbet carries on in the same vein for the rest of the season then he’ll more than earn a move down south. A good fee for us and I’ll wave him away quite happily with thanks for his efforts.
However if he is transferred to Rangers then cleared funds are required in our bank account before he gets on the bus along the M8 please!

The key to the future with Nisbet when he is finally sold, is to make sure a few add ons are chucked in the deal. A tasty wee future %age fee could be a welcome sweetener in the years to come.

The idea that talent is the only variable for determining a transfer fee is so flawed, the very fact that Nisbet will have 6 months less on his contract by the summer will reduce the potential fee drastically. No way will it be close to a million.

The fee will depend on a number of variables such as :-

1. How many clubs are prepared to bid and how deep their pockets are.
2. How steadfast the Pars are in knocking back bids they would normally accept, safe in the knowledge that they can get more for their prize asset.
3. How desperate Nisbet is to move - no point in keeping an unhappy player.

Not your average Sunday League player.

As said, 12 months left on the contract is enough to get a decent fee if there's more than one club interested.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

As adverbs go, "drastically" is a pretty strong one and, in this case, perhaps a wee bit over the top. If Nisbet carries on his current trajectory, his value will continue to rise and a million will not be out of the question.

Doubtless, we will see in due course, but as others have said, let's enjoy him while we can.

I am really looking forward to seeing how Kevin gels with Jonathan Afolabi.

I have watched a couple of full U23 games he played for Southampton on YouTube and JA is no slouch in front of goal. By the looks of things, potentially the two of them could terrorise most of the teams in this league.
