Can only assume he isn't in the headspace to start today. There would be no other reason to drop him. Hopefully he can knuckle down between now and the end of the season and he will get a move in the summer.

Awight Pat!

He did take a sore one in the last few minutes last week. Probably a combination of that and him being a bit hacked off. Either way he'll get over it quick and realise we couldn't possibly have let him go in our current situation unless the bid was huge.

Move on

Dobbie looked offside in the build up but we really have to deal with the second ball a lot better than that.

1-1 McGill?

Too much "up and under" football by the Pars. They really need to keep the ball on the deck, especially when playing on a plastic pitch.

Nothing will convince me that Gabby McGill is a football player. Absolutely terrible player. Fits in with the whole "he works hard" mentality of Scottish football. The boy can't play. At all.

Unfortunately Arbroath & Alloa winning so Pars in 6th spot atm........

Still 45 minutes is a long time in football

Edit to say: took too long to post this as Devine’s goal takes the Pars into 4th!!

What seems to be a common theme with AJ's teams is that because of the way the play they seem to run out of steam after 70 minutes. Another goal will finish it.

Can only presume Young isn't watchung the game, was a driving in corner towards the front post and Devine made a good connection with a header, no idea where he's getting that description from!

He's a gibbering buffoon, Grant. He actually said that Devine appeared to run under the ball, but somehow managed to chest it in.

I'm still trying to get my head round that. His explanation sounds far weirder than the goal.

Two good goals from the centrebacks today and we scored from corners. This has been something lacking in our game Defensively a little shakey again but with a new keeper it will take a little time. Good to see us coming back from a goal down away from home. The signs are there for me that we are shaping up for a better second half of the season. QOS playedthe better football in spells but we are starting to look strong.

Thought the Celtic lad has lots of promise. Looked a little heavy so perhaps needs to develop his fitness. He will be able to develop his game and confidence with us for the remainder of the season. Im always wary of players who come in and are outstanding for a few games and disappear.

Good result .........

Impressed with J Afolabi - put himself about & was unlucky when his header came of the bar for McGill to pick up the rebound. Set pieces were well worked with all 3 goals coming from corners. QotS made a game of it & were quick to get the ball forward in the FH but they did tire towards the end & the Pars finished the stronger team. Going forward Dow was his usual bag of tricks & he was opening up the left hand channel the whole game. Thought that D Thomas was a bit quiet today, he was up against Paton who he could beat hands down for pace but never really exploited the situation.

The game was a bit scrappy with a lot of Hoofing it up the park from both sides.

Thought the Pars were just about worth it in the end....

Two points.......

Ref seemed happy for QotS to resort to shirt pulling all game, he could have stopped this with a retrospective yellow.

AJ - The mans fear of substitutions lingers on!

Less time to see out at the end, thanks Al.

Eh? Thomas was on the left, and was one of our best players, continually beat his man and done well. Paton for QoTS was in the centre, not the wing.

I thought McGill done okay again today . He’s not always easy on the eye but he occupies centre backs . I thought Afolabi caused them some concern. Maybe Crawford benching Nisbet was a wee mind game . There is competition now.

I know we lost two goals today, but I'm surprised at the comments about the defence being a disaster. Both sides looked all over the place when defending early in the game, but I think that was a lot to do with the game being so open with both sides putting a lot into attack meaning little defensive cover.

We got caught with a bad goal early on, Ashcroft somehow being left one on one with Dobbie - although he made a really good effort to cover it and got a tackle in, the break of the ball went against us and what looked like a complete sclaff went in off the post. After going a goal down, I thought we were absolutely fine at the back, and despite being under a lot of pressure in the game, weren't threatened very often. The other goal we lost was a penalty - I'll be interested to see it again and it's one where I might have got it totally wrong, but my instinctive reaction was that it was never a foul.

Far from the defence being a disaster, I thought the win was based on decent play at the back. Ashcroft had a good game, Devine had a really good game beside him, and Comrie did a good job at full back too. About an hour of the game from 15 to 75 mins was played mainly in our half and we defended pretty well in that period. The only indiscipline I didn't like was when half the team switched off to chase the referee looking for a penalty, leaving us wide open to a breakaway. Thankfully Comrie was switched on and did his job to cover it.

Anyway, great win today, and I'm sure that's the only game I've ever been to where the Pars scored three goals from corners. Great balls in for the second and third, with a really good header from Devine at the near post before half time. We didn't threaten that much after the first few minutes, but with decent balls like that from set pieces it always gives you a chance. It probably made a difference having two big forwards, as it takes two of the other team's better markers to cover them, leaving space for a centre half to make a run and score.

Decent game in the first half, second half wasn't so good, but a good fighting effort to get the points.

Will definitely have to see both (all three? If we include the bizarre incident when Comrie was penalised for next to nothing on the far side) again. Like socks, I was raging at Turner in particular (because the loose ball was near him) and a few others fir chasing the ref but it did look like a good shout considering some of the ones given this season. The Queens one looked a terrible decision from my angle, it looked like the ball was clearly won by the referee gave it very quickly. Over on Pie and Bovril a Queens fan described it as the worst penalty decision he'd seen so that tells a story.

The referee in general had a strange game - usually at this level poor decisions even themselves out during a game but we got virtually nothing from the ref today. Oliver was pulling on the jersey at every long ball and also dived a few times (on one occasion he was told to get up when he should have been booked), there were the two penalty incidents mentioned above, there was a weird free kick given to us for no obvious reason when we had made a good switch of play and had Thomas in a 1v1 against their full back, and although it wasnt his call, Dobbie looked offside for the first goal too.

For us, I thought Alofabi looked good but tired as the game progressed (I'd have taken him off before McGill to be honest),
the usual suspects (Comrie, who had a tough task up against Hamilton and the constant high balls; Dow, Thomas, Nisbet when he came on) did well and Murray was decent defensively but not a threat going forward (but then he is a centre back playing at full back). Not convinced by the keeper, thought Turner again was frustrating (why must he always try the fancy thing, even in our own defensive third or when there is a simple pass available?) and both goals were results of the centre halves getting their positioning all wrong or making basic errors like diving in. A good win though.

The referee was terrible. Easily the worst this season and absolutely everything seemed to go against us for a long period in the second half.

Not much you can say about the new keeper. He was beaten by a mishit shot for the first but it was right in the corner, going in off the post. The only other serious shot he faced was a penalty. Did well on a couple of crosses, not so well on one other. Not really that much you can say about him as he really didn't have much to do.

Perhaps these are oblique references to my poorly-timed Ashcroft comment, perhaps not. Either way, they both kind of miss the point of the "match thread", which is to be an outlet for those folk not attending the game, but watching or listening to Pars TV or reading Buffy's minute-by-minute reports.

It is a means for Pars fans around the world to communicate with each other in REAL-TIME as if we were in the midst of a group of fellow fans actually at the game. The comments can sometimes be outrageous, just as they can be in the stadium, but it is all meant to be harmless fun and should be taken as such.

Perhaps, like Pars TV and Buffy, the thread should close a few minutes after the game ends and a new, more reflective thread, gets started to satisfy the more analytical amongst us; could maybe call it "The Trip Home Thread"...

When viewed sometime later, the "match thread" offers an insight into Pars fans' thoughts as they experience the highs and lows of a game.

With this in mind, you could almost call it performance art.

Granted, we're not talking Shakespeare here, but the "match thread" of say, the Celtic game at Parkhead, had as much joy and pathos, tragedy and alarm as William McGonagall at his very best.

''Great header from Devine 2-1 Pars''

According to the ineffable Chico Young, it was a 'weird' goal which DD chested in.

Who cares, eh? :-)

Can only presume Young isn't watchung the game, was a driving in corner towards the front post and Devine made a good connection with a header, no idea where he's getting that description from!

Just seen the goals, it was a great header by Devine. Looks really difficult to come up with chic's assessment.
