 Steelend Vics 1946
Topic Originator: buffy

Hi folks

I’m looking for some memorabilia for Steelend Vics circa 1946-63 be it photographs, team sheets etc, and specifically when Joe Nelson was the coach of the junior side.

Reason for asking : my uncle, John Wood, lives in Manchester and has dementia. He, and another uncle, played for SV and anytime a relative visits him he asks about his football boots and Steelend, which makes him smile and recall stories of his youth. My family are originally from Kelty.

My sister and I are going to visit him early March and I thought it would a nice idea to take something with me (perhaps just on loan).

If anyone could help I’d be very chuffed.
Thanks.

There is a booklet called “That’s Fife” all about footie across the Kingdom, if I recall there is a bit about Junior football in it

Perhaps it was available in the club shop at some point, if not I’m sure I have a copy somewhere which we could copy for you

Tony's alive and well and lives in Wedderburn Cresc. I think he's 81 or 82 now.

Top man is Tony.

I've been searching for info on Steelend Vics and came across this article about Tony Cascarino. I don't know him but I'm assuming this is about the same person. Apologies if not.

Yes, that's the same Tony C. I'm fairly sure he's related to the former Irish international footballer of the same name, who turned out for Celtic and a host of other clubs.

If you email me Buffy, I'll put you in touch with him.
