 Dundee Utd V Inverness
Topic Originator: 1970par

Interestingly all of the Ex Pars on show tonight can be described as not having passed muster in their time at Dunfermline

Rooney:- not good enough

Vincent:- people liked him because he “ran about a lot” apart from that he was rank rotten, a headless chicken!

White:- never made the grade, a big lad but never got near a regular starting berth

McKay:- played half a season (on loan from St J’s) without setting the heather on fire

Shankland:- when he was with us was lazy, as a finisher OK in the six yard box but a poor work rate let him down

Possibly the two players who are not on show could arguably be described as the more successful players McMullen and Clarke

worth debating though? Anyone!

Would say your assessment of white is, harsh. He was, offered a deal to stay but didn't sign in the time scale put down by the manager. Think he has scored at must teams he has been at since then

A decent game in brutal conditions.
Utd should have been 2-0 up in 5 mins.
Their passing/movement is good up front.
ICT well back into the game with putting extra man in midfield.

You can’t argue that he never made the grade as a first team player? a couple of starts and a sub now and again

Hardly an untrue description of his time with the Pars

I'm disputing the fact he never made the grade. He has done since he left and the management we had at the time clearly thought he could by offering him a new deal... He just ****** up by not signing in time.
Eta was he not on 17 or 18 when he didn't sign in time?

My post though does not argue their case after leaving us, only an estimation of their time at DAFC

Rotten conditions but both teams look fairly confident. Still see a draw at the end though.

That’s a fair few players who haven’t made the grade.

Include Moffat in that (whom I admired) but a lot didn’t because he didn’t score as much.

In the past a thought not gone by that maybe the club hasn’t done enough to get the best out of these players.

Vincent was fine for us, but physically was shot, still fairly young but looked like an old man, hence lack of speed!

When ICT played us earlier he was like a man machine, you wonder why a guy like this who was a decent SPL player could let himself drift like this.

Yep.

If there are going to be three play off places then that's good for us.

Yup, important that ICT got beat to keep us in touching distance. Would take 4pts from our next 2 but really no reason why we can't get 6.

The next 3 games will shape our season in my opinion.

Awight Pat!

United have won the league. Will be interesting to see if having more money that you can affordable manage is acknowledged as an ongoing financial platform

If they beat us at EEP, do they officially win the league on Saturday 29th?😡

No, they still need 13 points as things stand.

Incidentally, the BBC website is reporting the 'Partick v Dumbarton' game is off!

Ayr can get 77 pts max so Utd need another 20. Of course Ayre will not win their last 14 matches. They are averaging around 1.5 pts per match. 21 points....maybe 22 likely then giving them 57 points so unless united lose their last 12 and Ayr step up a bit. The league is already won.

Yes, I'm not sure how the BBC can conclude that DU only need 13 points. As indicated re today's postponement they're not the most reliable of websites.

5 points off 2nd place. This league is mental

Arbroath go 2nd if they win today

While it was a good result in terms of potential play off places, I was hoping United's bad run was going to continue. There is something about them I just don't like and it would have been hilarious if they'd blown it yet again.
