 Injuries Today
Topic Originator: DrumRoad
Date:   Sat 29 Feb 19:45

Hopefully the 3 players taken off today with injuries will be fit for our midweek game v Arbroath.

Moving on from that we have 4 games in total over the next 2 weeks & Dow was already missing today through injury last Tuesday

6 games in 3 weeks......... so much for the 3 week break our guys had

I feared for Euan Murray after the ghastly experience at Dumfries.

Thankfully he came back looking like an Egyptian Mummy!

Craw said the extra day for recovery because we were playing on Wednesday could be significant but I think he was referring to Ashcroft and Murray rather than Nisbet, Ross and Comrie.

McGill missing today as well.

wait and see how they all recover before Wednesday but it just gives an opportunity to others, up to them to take it and show what they can do.

McGill injured his quadriceps in training. Let's hope at least some of the walking wounded are OK for Wednesday, otherwise we'll be very light against a quite physical Arbroath side.

No quick fix for ankle ligament damage, I’m afraid.
That could be the difference in making the play offs or not. ?

Maybe Afolabi will thrive on being the main striker and as long as we can fit him up with a suitable strike partner we might be in business. He's off the mark in scoring terms and it's not Real Madrid we're playing in the next few games so who knows.

My son had ligament damage and played after 2 weeks(I thought it was a sprain)
Then it tightened up and the physio put him out for 8 weeks.
Tbh I never realised and the physio said they need total time to heal or he will get problems when he is older.

In his 'Manager on Thursday' interview SC says KN will have to be monitored day-by-day. He was cagey about how long he would be out for but dissociated himself from rumours that he would be out for 6 weeks.

It sounds like Saturday will be too soon for Ryan Dow's return but Aaron Comrie should be in contention to start. They're waiting to see how Lee Ashcroft's injury settles.

KilsythPar makes a valid point.

One of the features of social media is that a minority of individuals can use the cloak of anonymity to spout absolute nonsense.

Look at the drivel we read about Kevin Nisbet on the eve of the transfer window slamming shut.

Stevie Crawford has given a measured sensible report on Dow,Nisbet,Comrie and Ashcroft completely at odds with some of the "rumours" on this Forum.

Gotta be careful with Nisbet. Can't rush him back before he's truly ready.

I think we all agree that it is highly likely that he'll move on sooner than later (although I'd like him to stay and score loads of goals for us please) but if we push too fast, his fitness and value will be impacted.

Just watched Motherwell's video on twitter about their young hope getting a BIG money deal from Celtic but it being scrapped due to a unknown knee issue noted in the pre-signing medical check. We don't want the same scenario.

We're going to have to rely on our ambitious young guns to prove they're worthy of a striker place, until we can safely bring Nisbet back.

I'm just looking at tomorrow's game, we play the players we have.

In the modern game, not good to play carrying an injury.

It's getting to the stage of the season where teams will be extra fired up.

Tomorrow should be close, Doonhamers will be fighting for their lives, regardless of form.

How is it a problem? The speed in which Nisbet comes back won't be impacted by rumours on here.

He was in a main boot up at Gayfield on Wednesday, fairly obvious he isn't going to be back that soon.

McGill played well against Dundee in January, then got a goal away to Queens. He also had a really good charge forward with the ball when he came on last week. Wasn’t at Arbroath, so can’t comment on that performance. But he has improved a lot since the start of the season. Also got McCann, who is rated highly by the management team.

McGill, Afolabi, McCann. Not ideal but they are young lads with points to prove.

Same as Nizzy about 18 months ago.

This is where the Club is, giving young lads a platform. I’m all for it.

I'm worried more about the defense given the comments about the game at Gayfield. If Ashy is out, Martin or Murray can pair with Devine, but remember who is the other team's striker.

The other teams striker has hardly scored this season..

Still baffling our only other striking option behind Nisbet n big Jon is Gabby Mcgill..while Smith n Ryan are both on loan.

Rumour has it tho Andy Ryan was a bad egg around camp.

lets just hope our striking options today get chances and put them away, this is what happens when you rely on one man to score our goals , as others say it's a big ask so let's hope they are up for the challenge !! on the other hand it would be good if others could chip in with a goal or 2 and a another clean sheet for us will be very welcome

SC saying that Dow trained today and could be involved on Saturday if there is no reaction. Ashcroft had a scan which showed only a minor problem and he is working in the gym but won't be ready for this weekend. Nisbet is improving and it is hoped he can join in training next week.
