Surely his time is up here if Matty Todd is considered a better option than him

I don’t understand what’s happened to Beadling. He was easily our first choice midfielder last season and the season before but he has fell down the pecking order. Personally I’d rather play him than Paton. Paton is a decent midfielder but can’t do the running that Beadling does and both are physical players. it would be hard to drop Turner just now as he has played his best football in the last three/four games.

Todd is a better option as a no10 than Beadling would be which is what happened yesterday.

wouldn't be surprised if he started on Tuesday night though.

Would’ve put Beadling on and moved up turner to the no10 role

Best centre mid at the club, clearly not liked by Crawford

Todd's passing was appalling. I lost touch of the number of times he gave the ball away to the opposition.

This is probably quite harsh but from what I’ve seen Todd has never really shown anything to prove he’s worth keeping.

Todd nowhere near the level required at the moment, should be out on loan at a lower level to get the experience he needs. Like a lot of our other youngsters the odds are stacked against him making the grade as a player at the second highest level in scotland.

Is beadling a decent earner and craw just wants him out? Seems strange we are leaving him out. He’s rarely played with a proper partner in a midfield 2 so feels like he’s been hung out to dry.

I agree Beadling should be in the team.....but does not seem interested !!!...has good pace and graft........
As for Todd I have struggled to see any big contribution from him......needs time out on lone.....boost confidence

Beadling injured at Inverness, only fit enough for the bench a few weeks later then ill before the Dundee game, Paton and Turner have done a decent job since and there is no reason to change it...that's why he is being left out.

Todd should be out on loan which hopefully will happen next season doesn't matter if its half or a full season.

Turner has been poor again in the last 2 games - I don’t get those who thought he had a good game yesterday - in my opinion he was the weak link in the middle park again - I’d like to see Paton and Beadling starting together.

Already tried them as a two start of the season and it did not work. Be surprised if Crawford changes from 4-4-2 even though he probably should with our striker issues. FWIW I think Thomson has been hard done by in terms of game time and Matty Todd shouldn’t be in the squad and really needs a loan to develop. Probably to league 2...

Anyone slagging Paton really needs their heads examined.
Being captain, it isn't about being the best player but leading by example.

Anyone who watched Norrie understood this.

I don’t think anyone has slagged Paton? He is a decent player. Preferably I would play a three man midfield with Paton, Beadling and Turner behind the striker. That is not the formation Crawford wants to play though.

Paton,Beadling and Turner would be ideal at Firhill.

We don’t play a 442 though.

We play 4132 as paton doesn’t really play as a centre midfield player, he sits in front of the centre backs and occasionally pushes up rather than the other way round.

This leaves the other central midfielder a bit exposed. Although paton has done okay in that deep position to protect his lack of legs, i would hope to see a bit more energy in our midfield next season.

I wonder about beadling as the more defensive midfielder and turner as the more attack minded might be worth a shot? Problem is I’m not convinced by turner, fighting a losing battle sometimes as so lightweight so will always struggle to impose himself.

Plenty energy from Paton in the last few minutes on Saturday if you choose to see it

I really think we'd be better playing a 4-4-1-1 or some sort of formation with 3 in the middle and 2 wingers.

Don’t really see much reason to drop either Turner or Paton at the moment.
Would atleast like to see Beadling come of the bench

Can’t really agree with Berkey. At times, Paton has played that role. Over the last few weeks, he has been all over the park, breaking up play, winning the ball etc. He actually seems to get around the park more than Turner. Certainly doesn’t just sit in front of the defence, as suggested.

Im a big fan of Paton. When he first came I thought he was a bit ungainly and could be prone to massive mistakes but he's been good for us.

Sure he's no Zidane but I watched him even this weekend sprint from one corner of the park to the other to defend nearing the end of the game. I would assume he's class in the dressing room as well and encourages the younger lads.

Theres more to being captain than completing 100% of your passes.

Andrew Robertson certainly raves about his influence on his career, a good example for the young players

I like him, it's been years since we had someone on the park shouting, encouraging on the park.

I think the last one was Austin McCann.

Paton is the right captain for us right now. And much more energy than many assumed just because of his age.

Paton still most effective in a three for me but on the whole has really stepped it up in 2020

Paton and Turner have been pretty good recently, it is fair enough to stick with them, I agree that Turner could perhaps play as a number 10 and that allows Beadling to play beside Paton. Beadling wasn't playing wonderfully before though and has been out injured recently.

Todd needs more experience on loan somewhere. Thomson although he has been played out of position, has been between poor and very poor since he returned, perhaps understandably but he has hardly done anything to justify a starting place.
