With the way we've listed that team I'm worried Murray is at left back.

Has Murray not been played at left back in every game since he returned from that horrible injury, Grant?

He's actually done quite well there, although I'd prefer to see him at centre back, too.

Not your average Sunday League player.

I think he does an okay job there, but Martin is definitely my preferred option at LB over Murray and vice versa. The team needs to step up as I really view this as a must win if we want to push for the playoffs. Dow being out is annoying as is Nisbet, but it's giving other players an opportunity.

I think he has GG, he's not done badly, but Martin is a better player there and Murray is more traditionally a centre back.

I get why he wasn't moved straight to centre back when you had Ashcroft and Devine forming a partnership, but why not move him in now?

Have to agree. Martin's strongest position is LB and Murray's is probably CB although either can play both. It's all very well being versatile but both have a best position.

Harsh to single them out, they're getting the ball launched off them from deep and expected to do something with it, I've never seen us play so many long balls.

The whole team has been absolutely shocking, absolutely atrocious.

when we are under the cosh our defense has a tendency to just lump it up the park
somebody needs to show a bit guile and put their foot on the ball and start playing it on the deck !
as others say a few players out and we are as crap as them
cmon pars we need a win

I only hope they run out of steam , because like Saturday past if it wasn't for the penalty i didn't see where we were going to score from and from what i read tonight on the bbc , we haven't turned up ( this is the usual of late when we have a chance to make the play offs ) we bottle it
hope i'm wrong

Partick are fighting for safety. Of coarse they are going to be on top at home. Its about keeping them out staying in the game. They will get to a point where the home fans are like ours. This is not working change it ect ect. People are too quick to criticize. If we end up winning it will all change.

Under the cosh for the whole first half. Our goalie is our bestplayer. No time on the ball at all but Thistle have squandered their chances. We're just reverting to booting the ball skyward because of the pressure from Thistle but it's still goalless and because I'm in the Thistle end with my pal, I'm right behind the goal we are attacking in the second half so will have good sight of our winning goals.

biggest problem is we only have one proven striker at the club
No back up what so ever , and we are at the mercy of 2 guys up front just now who do not have much experience of playing men's football , not their fault and I know they have to learn but a little foresight on our management team would have helped this situation ,
So you end up with a defense letting Partick come to them and when we do get the ball we just hump it up the park and clear our lines , seen it too many times this season from us

All credit to SC switching to 5-3-2.

Dom Thomas has added threat up front.

Beadling Paton and Turner in a far more effective midfield.

Danny Devine is immense.

Danny Devine could pass the ball rather than needlessly launching it everytime.

He's been better defensively.

We just ****** up a 3 on 1 there, very poor.

We've had just as many opportunities this half as Partick tbf.

I'd consider bringing Thompson on for Turner, he's grafted but it's not happened for him.

Could bring McCann on for fresh legs upfront I suppose.

1-1, that'll be that.
Poor from Fon Williams who seemed more interested in trying to win a free kick.

No matter what way anyone tries to spin this, 2 points from the 2 worst sides in the division is awful, when you couple in the performances it's actually much worse.

Last minute against Morton, this tonight, late penalty at home to Inverness earlier in season

Add to that the fact we have struggled against Arbroath and Alloa.

We could easily be in the play offs but inconsistent form tied in with injuries means it will be mid table for us.

3 points behind Ayr
4 points behind Dundee
8 behind Inverness

And they all have games in hand.

Ahhh well

And this is why we do not deserve the play offs in the slightest, couldn't even finish off QoS or Partick. It's just a pointless exercise, they say this league is the best in Scotland cos it's so tight.

No its not.

It's filled with inconsistent teams that cannot pull a run of games together, garbage. One decent team, Dundee Utd. Dundee are now third and imo are the worst team we have played this season!

No blaming the manager or coaching, things will improve under them. Just need to consolidate.

With the injuries we have, a victory tonight would have been superb especially when we were heavily under pressure. To lose a goal in the 94th is the most frustrating feeling in the planet. Absolutely gutted. I don’t expect anything on Saturday but hopefully I’m prove wrong. Sickener.

The only crumb of comfort is that that scumbag Graham didn't score a 94th minute winner.

Facts are facts. We are pretty ordinary without Nisbet and Dow. Half of this will surely be addressed in the close season.

Still a few twists and turns to come. We're not completely out of it yet.

Call me a pessimist but it's a point towards safety for me. Play-offs would be nice, earn some cash and get a bit of excitement but I don't see us in the premiership anytime soon. There are a lot of evenly matched sides in this league. Difficult to put a run together when everyone is capable of beating everyone else. Will settle for mid-table mediocrity this season.

Partick is a hard game at their ground and we were brutal in the first half..... if I could swear we were worse.
Change of system/subs etc got us back then typical for the end result.
We rely on 3 players at the moment to keep us playing well so this needs addressed in the summer. Hope a few young guns come through.

You have to give some credit to Thistle. They played as if their lives depended on it. And some credit to the defensive display our boys put up. Afolabi was right through just before they scored and the ref. blew for a foul when he just outmuscled his marker. That would have made it 2-0. We got no favours from the ref. Don't know where the 4 minutes extra came from, there were no injuries. Overall I thought it was a good fighting display.

This has been a pretty mad season, all things considered. The theme has really been that anyone (just about) can beat anyone. And as far as the Pars are concerned it's been proper rollercoaster stuff. Some utterly atrocious and some pretty impressive. Yes, our shortage of strikers is an issue .... but the same can be said of a great many teams. We're just lucky to have had Nisbet for at least part of the time. What happens beyond the season end is anybody's guess, but he's not going to be easy to replace if he goes. Afolabi looks very promising but he has to grow into his role and that won't happen overnight.
As ever I think we just have to be patient.
At least SC appears to be more settled and comfortable in what he's doing, even if he wasn't everyone's first choice - me included. At the start of the season the consensus was that we had to give him time and the expectation was possible play offs - which is exactly where we look like ending up.
TBH I wouldn't like to see us go up this year. It would, likely as not, result in a season of maulings and rancour, the like of which we've suffered before. And I'm not sure that the team(s) that does/do go up are going to have a happy time either. The gulf in standards just looks too huge for any of the current Championship bunch.

We’ll find out if we did or not at the end of the season alwaysapar. I think it’s a big ask now. I’ll stand by that tonight was a game we had to win though, regardless of what you think. 2 points against the bottom two is a bad return - injuries or not if we are aiming for playoffs. My biggest worry is how we will cope without Nisbet next season. He has been massive in keeping us out of serious trouble this season.

I don't understand the long ball tactics. I've seen far too much of it recently. Thistle were doing the same.

Any views on whether that's what they've been told or they're deciding that on the spot? To me, it looks like they've been told to, which I find baffling.

We're not great, but we're better than that.

^^ its the Scottish Championship on a poor pitch in March....

99 times out of 100 a referee gives a foul on the keeper from the corner....tonight its the 1 that doesn't, plus the ball was at least a yard outside the quadrant every corner they took in that corner.

https://dafc.co.uk/image.php?CAT=Partick Thistle&d=2020-03-10&SID=84216&z=

clip of the goal on youtube….a blatant foul by Graham from the corner!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLEmk67Ncb0&feature=emb_logo

first half was poor to say the least, didn't cope with their formation at all but the changes at half time worked and it was a far more even game, to lose 2 points with nearly the last kick off the game is bad enough but in those circumstances, that's worse!

"Still a few twists and turns to come. We're not completely out of it yet.

As for "deserving" the play offs......jesus wept"

spot on, the last bit can be said for too many posts/tweets or whatever!

This constant reference to we (or they) are not good enough to go up is quite honestly irrelevant nonsense.
If you’re paying Championship wages are you going to have Premier standard players in your squad? You build when you have the budget to do so and any team promoted would be putting out a very different 11 to the one they put out in the Championship.
Just as important, particularly recently how have teams that did gain promotion find life in the Premier, how many came back down, even Livingston who looked to be least prepared of all have managed to compete very well, don’t kid yourself teams adapt and have done so with regularity.

Don't think the long ball was a tactic Luckytiler. It was out of necessity. Thistle were forcing the play so much that the only thing to be done was blooter the ball any where. The pitch was rutted and not suitable for playing silky football. But we did find a bit more space in the second half and passed it a bit better.

p*** poor in the second half and anything other than a defeat tonight was total theft of a point.

1st half was totally unacceptable. Shambolic stuff and we really should have been a good few goals down, if it not for Partick being absolutely dross.

2nd half was a bit better and Partick didn’t really trouble us. Afolabi penalised right at the end for nothing which leads to their goal. That was a 1 on 1 and 9/10 he’s going to score. Referee totally shat it and blew for a foul to give the defender protection. Then decides to do the exact opposite to us up the other end and allow Graham to foul for the goal.

We probably deserved nothing but that was sickening at the end.

I don't think Afolabi got the rub of the green from the ref on Saturday or tonight. There didn't seem to be anything in that 'foul' given against him just before the end, and where did the ref find that extra couple of minutes he added on to the 90 seconds due for subs? Did he warn any of our players for time-wasting?

Afolabi was a passenger for pretty much the whole game. I figured he was spent after all the game time recently or even injured but he fair shifted when he wanted to.

Felt a touch and took a dive to try win a penalty and feigned injury, rolling about on the floor for no reason when we are scrapping tooth n nail for a win out of nowhere right at the end.

That is nae use to us at all.

We aren't good enough to be a playoff contender and we're too good to get relegated, so the table doesn't lie. Frustrated as anything, but we just need to support the team to see the season out

I think a point at Partick is a fair result. They are fighting to stay in the division. As others have said we are not top 4 material. The problem is that you need a settled team for next season which is difficult when you bring in loan players. It is also difficult for them.

in fairness that picture is inconclusive. he angle does not show he is offside properly. The defender looks to also be in the 6 yard box, Also the ball has already be kicked so its a second out. The Keeper looks out of position already which would be hard to recover with that many bodies around him.

the defender is on the six yard line Graham is in the box. Being a few frames out means it's more obvious as Graham is still moving back towards an onside position.

How about the penalty on Saturday - if that had gone against us people on here would be raging about it. First game at Palmerston Queen of the South should have had a penalty late on that went in our favour. I’m sure opposition fans will come up with other examples - all fans see things from their own team’s perspective - looking at the last few performances (with the exception of the games against the Dundee teams) we should be worrying about our own performances not the referees.

There was nothing controversial about Saturday's penalty and I can't recall the incident at Palmerston. We've certainly had nothing like the 'goal' ICT were awarded at EEP a couple of weeks ago and it's very unusual for refs to add on time for 'time-wasting' as seemed to be the case last night.

All we've lacked in the last few games is the cutting edge Dow and Nisbet usually provide.

It was in the last few minutes with Q of S attacking their own supporters - (ie the far end from where we were) - can’t remember who went in for the tackle but I do remember having a big sigh of relief when the ref didn’t point to the spot - much to the vocal dismay of both the players and supporters of Queen’s ( and of course Mr Johnston 😂). I didn’t feel too bad about it after the decisions in the Dundee game just before this.

There was very little time wasting in the second half and certainly not 4 minutes. There were no stoppages for injury. The referee was obviously giving Thistle every opportunity to equalise. The goal they scored seems dodgy from several points of view and they were given fouls when we weren't for the same type of incident. I thought we did very well in the circumstances.

No-one has been humping them, in fact they drew at Tannadice on Saturday (something beyond us in the last few years)

How many seasons in this league will it take for some of you to realise there are no easy games?

Well, your presumption is wrong. I actually posted on this forum that I was expecting the ref to blow for a foul. Decisions like that are 50/50; some you get and some you don't. Being sure a ball crossed the goal-line or not getting the allotted time right fall into a completely different category in my opinion.

Maybe not but at home against a qos team that have only 2 points from the last 5 and 14 points from 14 away games. Considering we have 24 points from 15 home games can't seriously be happy with a point from that. I would have taken a point at least last night but after seeing the way we couldn't hold out is again disappointing.

How about Ashcroft climbing all over the defender for his winner last time out at Palmerston? Ok with that one? - yeah, I thought so 😉

That didn't happen though. If it did I'm pretty sure the player at least would have rounded on the ref. He didn't even flinch, so he obviously fidn't experience what you believe you witnessed😉

If you take your blinkers off you see that you can't keep blaming refs for poor performance

Did you think that was a fair challenge last night or not?

The reality is we were lucky to get a point ...although conceding a goal under dubious circumstances feels like a loss
We were all over the place No composure.. No control.. second to every 50/50 and out run and out fought''

That was the case in the first half, Bpp, but not the second when we caused them quite a few problems. Even in the first half there was a lot of good penalty box defending and OFW's save from the penalty was magnificent. As usual on here, when the opposition fail to capitalise on a period of superiority we're lucky; when we fail to capitalise we're useless.

It would be grossly unfair for someone who wasn't at the game to criticise the team on the basis of a few minutes of highlights. Partick are not a bad team, they have a good manager, they were playing at home with 80% of the fans and they were fighting for their lives. That was definitely a game we would have lost last year, probably by several goals. For all their attacking play, we restricted them to very few shots on target and we took the lead. It was a hard won point and the team deserves some credit for that.
