How many Pars have also played for Falkirk in recent memory?

I can only think of Ivo Den Biemen but I'm sure there's more.

Our "legendary" side in 2018/19 was packed full of Falkirk rejects...

James Craigen, Miles Hippolyte, Declan McManus, Louis Longridge, Kallum Higginbotham.

Several ex-Pars currently "star" for the knuckledraggers, including...

Louis Longridge, Aiden Connolly, Mark Durnan, Declan McManus.

I have a vague recollection of us paying Falkirk something like 100k for a player who was absolutely rubbish for us. It would be about 20 years ago. Does anyone remember his name?

The Pars Database has supplied the answer... I was thinking of Davie Nicholls.

He came to us with a pretty good reputation as a midfielder, but as I recollect he turned out to be a big disappointment.

I note that he went back to Falkirk and today is a coach at Peterhead, so he managed to carve out a long career out of the game. Maybe his time at the Pars was an aberration.

Buchanan

Den Bieman
Nichols
Moss

Longridge
McManus

Subs:
Paton

Higginbotham

There's a whole team there (and actually not an awful one at that)

Ken Mackie went to Falkirk in 1974 for £6K having turned down a £50K move the previous season to Glasgow Rangers. He turned Rangers down to develop at EEP, was transferred start of following season.

Davie Nicholls scored an absolute belter against St Johnstone. I think is was his only goal for us, but it was a genuine stoater.

Greg Shaw scored a decent amount of goals while Andy Smith was recovering from a broken leg in 95/96 . He wasn’t a great footballer but his contribution was important.

I remember that, Bandy. Wasn't it the build-up to the goal that was impressive rather than the finish itself?

I'm sure the one with the great build-up fell to him for a shot, but instead of pinging it in one corner as intended he scuffed it completely, fooled the keeper, and it trickled into the other corner. I don't think it counted though, as it was wrongly called offside.

I think he might well have scored a decent goal in the same game (it was at Perth) but I can't remember the details of it. It was early in the season around 2001/2002.

Per Pars database:-

04/08/01 - St Johnstone 0 Dunfermline 2
Nicholson (6) Nicholls (53)

We beat Motherwell 5-2 at EEP the week before with Jack De Gier and Barry Nicholson getting 2 goals each and Lee Bullen the other one.

The scuff in the corner must have been another game around the same time - the one he scored in that game was a great strike with great build-up. Sportscene feature on the game includes the goal in the second half:

Great footage! Nobody seemed to be paying much attention to the team talk.

Maybe this'll be how we have to keep ourselves amused for the next wee while!
