Pars by Owain Fon Williams

The Support the Pars campaign has received a fantastic piece of original artwork, entitled simply Pars, from our on loan Welsh international goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams, who is also a renowned artist.

Owain has been out of action along with the rest of the team and has spent his time producing this superb piece in his well-known style. Owain’s work normally sells for several hundred pounds via his own website yet he has kindly donated it to our fund raising initiative with 100% of the proceeds going to the Fighting Fund to help the club at this difficult time.

Owain has already appeared on BBC Wales giving an interview about the piece, which you can read on the link below .
Club Supporter Liaison Officer Drew Main commented “What an incredible gesture from Owain. Speaking to him earlier, it’s clear he has developed an affinity with the club and the fans in his short time here and for him to have made this work available to us at this time is fantastic. Hopefully people will like it as much as I do, and it’ll realise a significant sum. Having already passed the £30,000 milestone in our campaign this could really help us in reaching our target of £40,000.”

This one-off original piece, which measures around 25” x 20” including frame, is up for silent bid auction. Bids, in pounds only please, must be made to Kenny McLachlan by email and will finish at 9pm on Saturday 11th April. Kenny can be contacted on kenny.mclachlan7@googlemail.com

Please place your silent bid by email, Kenny will let you know if you are the high bidder, he will also let you know if you have been outbid by return email and on the dafc.net fans football forum.
How much would you like to bid for this wonderful unique piece of Pars history? Good luck.

Brilliant by Owain to do this. Being on loan at the club you would imagine that he would be trying to look after Hamilton. It must show how well Dunfermline have treated him since he arrived in January. I would love to see him back at the club next season (or when this pandemic is over)

No new bids to trouble the current high bidder, there was a huge initial rush of interest and then steady bids coming in with some placing renewed bids probably up to their financial limit

There may of course be people who will keep their powder dry and hope to come in at the last minute with a late bid, this is a risky strategy not knowing what the current high bid is

It’s going to be an interesting auction which is already doing very well

MC the high bidder, so much interest in this superb piece of work which is an investment for the future, the circumstances and provenance would make one think that it’s value will only increase in years to come

would you consider doing some items as a bonus ball style? gives most of the fanbase a shot at owning something and not just the more affluent few especially at a time when large numbers of fans are signing up to lifeline etc again and also being furloughed not knowing when they will be in receipt of a full salary once again.

59 balls @ £10/£15 each raises £550-£900 after any costs etc accounted for.

Just an idea

That's a super idea, PUP.

Why 59 balls? Could we not have 100 balls and raise more money?

There's already a silent auction underway, Surely you can't expect Kenny to re-think and change the process halfway through? (p.s. I can't afford it either but have no issues in it going to the highest possible bidder.)

Don't want to take this too much off topic but we're actually planning an online raffle at the moment where the prizes are a collection of Pars memorabilia plus hospitality package. Value of each prize is in the region of £300. Hoping to launch this at the end of the week.

Anyway.....please email Kenny with further bids for what is an unbelievable gesture from our on-loan keeper.

I hear what you are saying about making something available for everybody to have a chance to own

Unfortunately the best and easiest way to raise funds quickly and directly and to get the cash where it is needed is to do it this way

I note that Drew has mentioned the coming opportunity to win a Pars Hamper which we have been working on, this will be more along the lines that you suggest

Perhaps there may be something we can look at at some other time

Thanks for the comments

Oz Par - the reason PUP suggested 59 balls is that it would be based on the bonus ball on the National Lottery.

A random number generator can be used if you want more numbers but there is more safety with the Lotto numbers as this can't be fixed.

I believe there was some coverage on Welsh TV today about Owain and his very kind donation to the club

There have been a few bids in today, none of which are beating the current highest bid

I foresee there will be some further action before we finish, it’s quite exciting and I would think there would be some good publicity for Owain and the piece once the auction has ran its course

Thanks to all those who have bid to date
