I have read that Ryan Dow has now returned to his parent club after the loan period has expired. Anyone else have any news of player movements as the season is now finished?

I didn't realise that he was a loan signing. I've got a question about furlough ? Players who are signed only for this season will get paid until the end of May but what happens to any player that gets signed for another season. Would he still get furlough with us paying 20%. Or do we have to pay his full salary?

Dow signed a contract extension and is going nowhere. He’s contracted until June 2021.

Ryan Dow wasn’t on loan, he signed a year extension earlier this season.

Sadly though I think all players out of contract will be free.

No one knows when football will start, so I can't see anyone wanting any extra expenditure with no income.

We could see a return of late 1970s with even pretty big clubs having quite a few part time players.

If we could somehow get Thomas back next season and Nisbet stays put I will be very happy. Both should be playing at a higher level

If we can somehow get through the possible few months with no real income ( bit sweeping I know), we have a pretty decent nucleus of players signed up to 2021.

"If we can somehow get through the possible few months with no real income ( bit sweeping I know), we have a pretty decent nucleus of players signed up to 2021."

At this time there is no clarity when season 2020/21 might start - and even then the social distancing implications will have a major effect on attendances.

Which impacts on income cash flow which in turn means clubs are unlikely to be able to honour contracts of playing staff who are still on the books.

There is no good news on this front methinks.

Yep, can see administration or invoking clauses to void contracts being the norm, unless furlough can some how continue, and I don't see how it can economically, even then if there is a delay in the new season of 3 months ( looking optimistic there)

Football and the pubs will be back last, not really any way out of this apart from crossing our fingers.

Good morning etc.! Well it's a realistic scenario from VEE, it's fair to see a scenario that is likely.

Can't see financially how clubs can work the way through this, even with furlough (and that can't continue too long) fans will be out of work so fundraising will be limited.

Mind you if we do somehow squeeze through, we do have some decent players! ( We will have to get them back from Amazon though)

"What a little ray of sunshine you are VEE!"

I just think too many punters are not being realistic about the immediate to near future - the fallout from this blight is going to have huge negative implications across all of our society.

And here it comes now.

The Scottish Sports Minister, Joe Fitzpatrick, will be in talks with the Football Authorities and other Sports regarding a phased return.

RAF flypast for Captain Tom. 100 years old today. Single handedly raising £30 million pounds for the NHS. That's good news.

I'm sure you'll be along shortly to remind us we're all doomed.

Apologies - I thought you were focused on football matters only.

Honorary Colonel Tom is above and beyond all praise, he should be knighted, at the very least.

Parting with money is usually what earns a knighthood, but giving it to a charity doesn't....

If I was being facetious, I could say that 1. He didn't "single-handedly" do it as it was by public donations, that 2. The RAF flypast would have cost money that could have been better spent elsewhere and that 3. This has only normalised the idea that the NHS is a charity and shouldn't be funded in full by the taxpayer.

Anyway, in terms of football it's hard to see there being any positive news. The only good news I can think of is that clubs in Scotland are less reliant on TV money than those in other leagues and tend to pay less wages than many other clubs while also being in a place with a government scheme to pay the majority of wages. As long as clubs in Scotland don't have too many outgoings for the ground and other ancillary fees etc. then I'm hopeful the majority if Scottish clubs will survive.

FFS I give up.
