Not great, think we need clarity as to why the furlough was not extended

I think RM has already said they didnt know when the players could play again so they couldn't afford to keep furloughing them when theres pretty much no cash coming in.

TRBFCs post at 11.56 on the player update thread might help

Furlough is being run down by the UK Parliament. Yes they say it will be paid for longer but businesses will be expected to foot part of the bill. Footballers signed for a set period of time which has run out. Its tough but club need focus on the future needs, 2019/20 season was not a roaring success for us. All these players would have been out as the season has reached its end. Times are tough but contracts are at an end and the plan for resumption of league competition will require all available funding. Every season supporters opinions are shaken, this season is the hardest for a good few years.

Tom makes an outspoken attack on the club in an interview in "The Herald On Sunday" on Page 69.

The newspaper makes an unfavourable comparison with the actions at Raith Rovers,Dundee and Ayr United.

I'd imagine HMRC may ask questions like "In normal circumstance, would you have legitimately extended this persons contract?". Of the 17, we've all said the majority wouldn't be extended.

So extending would be fraudulent. Some clubs can take that risk, and that's great. We can't.

Rovers haven't done it yet, neither have Ayr. I'm sure I read somewhere in this waffle that Dundee only have 3 players out of contract (might be a load of rubbish)

From what I can see it looks like Dundee triggered a one year extension for one player and extended the contracts of 3 other players they could genuinely say they would have extended their contracts anyway until the end of June.

Shame he didn’t reference Kilmarnock, Dundee United and QOTS who released countless players this week as well

the Courier says Raith have confirmed they are, on Dundee yes they have done 3 first team players but apparently have not done it for any youth player that is out of contract, they haven't made that public though.

can add Hamilton and StJohnstone to the list of releasing players, add in Ross County if they don't extend deals as they are indicating, why are there over twice as many clubs not extending than are?

"First team regular? He was injured every few weeks"

missed 3 games through injury or illness last season.

I'm guessing part of the reason some clubs aren't or can't extend contracts is that the government only pays 80% of wages up to a maximum of £2500 per month. I'd imagine premier clubs have most players far in excess of that.

It is up to the employer whether they top up the 80%. Not mandatory

Tom was a good servant to the club in his couple of years with us and a nice lad to go along with it.

No problems with him speaking out about his feelings, he's entitled to do that. He may be upset at the way things have ended, and he wouldn't be the first..Josh Falkingham, Faissal and Joe Cardle spring to mind.

Yes so BigJ so if a player is on 5k a month the government will pay 2.5k and its up to the club to find the rest.

Thought he came across well and I feel for him and all the others. It is an awful situation for everyone, RM included. However, he may not have been aware of the professional advice and the potential financial consequences for the club if they were to extend furlough by a month, and were subsequently challenged. Fortunately for him he is young and still has quite a few years of playing left. Hopefully once football restarts again he can find a club.

put it on the player update thread but add it here too, more comments in the Courier, similar to Ross County, the club got professional advice, were made aware of potential issues and weren't willing to take any chances.

totally different circumstances and situations.

One of the main reasons that we went into admin was HMRC bills.
I assume we are watched carefully by them now.

He really was a waste of a wage. Countless players we've had the past few seasons on really good wages and we could get much better players for cheaper.
