 Season tickets
Topic Originator: kelty_par

I see that Premiership clubs are now in a position to sell season tickets where they will also allow holders to access the clubs streaming service to watch home games that are played behind closed doors even if they are being shown live on Sky. Given that there is no real TV deal to speak of to negotiate terms with other than the games shown on the BBC that will be free to view anyway, does anyone ITK if we (and other Championship clubs) are lobbying or at least having discussion about similar schemes? Also, some folk on Pie and Bovril seem to think we are against starting the new season or have intimated we won't be in a position to play out the league season when it starts - I take it that is nonsense but it would be good if it was confirmed somewhere. I'm sure most season ticket holders would be happy to buy a new season ticket if the streaming option was included and that would allow us to get a squad together and pay the players and staff once furlough ends or is changed to include a bigger contribution by the employer?

As pointed out on another Post, Ross County spent £35k on a machine which dies the test the same day so no extra cost involved.
This is feasible.

the streaming idea has been talked about for a few weeks at Championship level, the Chief Exec. at Morton whos name escapes me brought it up again the other day and the Raith chairman said the camera system that will be used has already been installed at Starks by the SPFL a few weeks ago.

in terms of us, from McArthur's interview in the Daily Mail 2 weeks ago.

"As Dunfermline Athletic I have to say that for us to play behind closed doors is not viable in the Championship"

But the machine is just a antibody testing machine this was discussed and crushed in German league. This machine won't give a clear positive /negative

c'mon the pars

Surely more economical for clubs to share a machine or for the SPFL to buy machines?

ross county are allowing others to use their machine. Surely between the fife clubs they could have a central location for all to use the machine.

There is a lot of talk regarding virtual Season tickets.

If my present seat in the SW Stand has restricted view( due to a pillar) will I tape over part of my IPad to view a match live on Pars TV?

I have no idea how any club in the Championship, apart from maybe Hearts, could survive if games are played behind closed doors, even with the virtual season tickets.

The fans simply have to be going to games to keep clubs like ours ticking. It's not just the season tickets, it's everything that fans pay for on match day that contribute to the coffers.

Anyone else seen the news that Falkirk fans have raised £90000 for their club by not asking for refunds on their season tickets. Does anyone know how much those of us who are ticket holders have put into our club by doing the same thing.

How is that "money raised"?

Surely Falkirk have already had & spent that cash? So all it means is they don't have a 90k hole to fill?

Falkirk have raised nothing. The 90K would have been paid by fans this time last year and would have been spent trying to get them out of League 1. They just don’t have to magic the money from nowhere and pay it back.

I haven't asked DAFC for a refund on our 2 season tickets - nor will I be doing so, but I have contemplated asking Dundee for a refund for the 2 tickets bought for the game scheduled to be played just after the lockdown. Don't know if Dunfermline will still have that money or if they would have passed it on to Dundee.

You should definitely ask for a refund on that.
Otherwise the cash goes to Dundee.
If you don't want or need that cash then donate it to the Pars after you get the refund.

i haven't asked for a refund on mine but equally wasn't aware that any was available.

not that i would have but do the club note have a duty to email folk?

only reason i ask is that other activities where i have paid for something i didn't get have all been in touch to allow me to pause memberships, get vouchers, refunds etc

[I]"2019-20 SEASON TICKETS

I hope all of our supporters and their families are keeping safe and well during these challenging times. A lot of work has been undertaken over the last few weeks behind the scenes in terms of planning for next season. I hope to provide supporters with more information regarding the sale of season tickets for 2020-21 by the end of next week.

Before doing so, we wanted to reiterate again the position regarding season tickets from last season.

As I said in my statement March, just after lockdown was announced, we kindly asked our supporters not to request compensation for missing the last three home matches of last season, as this would assist our club greatly.  Not a single supporter has come forward to request this, and for that we are truly indebted to everyone for being so supportive.  However, we continue to fully respect the right of any supporter to do so and we will be emailing all of our season ticket database individually out of further courtesy. If anyone does, indeed, want to pursue a claim for compensation, we would ask them to do that immediately.

If no claim is submitted by 20 June 2020, we will treat the sum that might have been claimed as a donation to the Club, which will put us in the position of also being able to recover the VAT attributable to those three matches.  This will be a further way of supporters providing the Club with valuable assistance and we would really welcome your co-operation, if you are so minded not to request compensation.

As ever, thank you for ongoing support. COYP!

Ross McArthur

The saving in VAT from converting a proportion of the ST money to donations could be quite substantial. Say we sold 3,000 STs at an average of £200 each. That would have generated income of £600,000. We lost 3 home games out of 18 which means 1/6th of this income becomes donations ie £100,000. VAT on this would have been £16,667. My estimates of income are probably conservative so the saving may be closer to £20k.

What income tax? As a limited company the club will be subject to corporation tax but I imagine it has sufficient losses brought forward to offset any potential liability.

Maybe he meant that because the "income become donations" then there might be gift aid to be gained ????

Fair play to our fans for not requesting this. In all honesty I wouldn't blame anyone who does, as a lot of people will have lost jobs and income during this crisis, so would never think badly of anyone who needed the money for their family. I read the statement from Hibs, where around 15% of their fans have requested their money back

Exactly this. I am quite surprised that no-one has done it. Perhaps the number will stay at zero - I think it probably will - but I hope the club don't mention it if a handful do. This has been a catastrophic time for some and it could be that every penny is a prisoner.
