As above, Declan McManus signs for DAFC.

'Return of the Mac' is a class a announcement too.

Good signing. Even if he doesn't get loads of goals he's good to have in the team.

I think he will bag quite a few though.

Lower league journeyman, runs around a lot, flatters to deceive and only bangs in goals against part-time teams in the 3rd tier.

It's really quite easy to criticise...

You're a very naughty boy, DA-go. Have you ever thought of doing a bit of angling instead? I think you'd be very good at it, for some reason.... :-)

I believe McManus will do even better for us second time around.

I think so too. Strange the way football works though. Imagine 2 years ago someone suggesting that we'd be re-acquiring McManus from the loose change of Kevin Nisbet's transfer.

Mind you, against a backdrop of the season ending early, the new one starting late and behind closed doors and everyone having to stay indoors for months during the time in-between, I guess it's not that strange.

Have to laugh at all the comments about how good or bad he will be. Lets just give him our support and he'll hopefully come good.
I was disappointed when he left but like a lot of people felt that his decision making could have been better. I'm glad he's signed though.

When Nisbet signed we were told how he was a poacher and any time I'd seen him previous to him coming here this seemed to be the case. Crawford clearly improved him as a striker so I have no doubt he will improve McManus as well.

Was really disappointed when he originally left; always caused defenses a real headache. Am therefore delighted that he has returned to finish the job ! Welcome back Dec, it is just a pity you never got an opportunity of pairing up with Nisbet; together you would seriously upset have this seasons pretenders!

You may not be aware that he didn't want to leave us last time. He asked the manager if he was going to be offered a new contract and the reply was "That depends on whether I can get somebody better than you."

Not surprisingly, he took the Ross Co. offer when it came in.

It's not the reply you or I would have given him, perhaps, but you can't deny he was completely honest with him. It told McManus and his agent that maybe they'd be better to look around....

It was interesting to hear in his interview that Craw spoke to him in January with a view to signing then but things were going well for him at Falkirk after a tough time at Ross Co and he didn't want to disturb that but told Craw he might be interested in signing in the summer. If he had signed in January I wonder if we would have let Nisbet go to Hibs then?

Clearly he will never ever have a career at Celtic but I thought that he looked like he could do a job in the Championship.

He's also very young and hadn't played a senior game before he joined us.

Fair comments but I thought he would have been bursting a gut to prove a point to Celtic or to win a deal at Dunfermline?
I didn't see him do that.

Indeed. I think he was do used to getting the ball to his feet at Celtic, he wasn't used to doing the spade work at EEP.
Looked useful when he did get it though.

I thought Afolabi offered us something different up front. He had physicality, decent pace and skill and I couldn't question his commitment. Didn't he step up and take a pen against QOS when you would have expected a more experienced player to take responsibility? Young players tend to get judged far too early, imo.

I'd expect any centre forward at any team to take a penalty. If your CF doesn't fancy a free hit from 12 yards....

Afolabi certainly was building every game, for such a young guy he offered a lot physically and had a good turn of pace. I'd be inclined to get him back given how hard it is to find decent options up front, but I'm not sure whether Crawford is happy with having O'Hara, McManus, McCann and McGill or if either of the latter may go out on loan.

Afolabis "effort" levels at Firhill in the last game is the complete polar opposite of what we can expect from McManus.
