 Superb Business Today

In what may have been a very down day (even know we all knew it was going to happen) after the loss of kevin nisbet, I do not get the sense that many are actually too sad about it... he will be a loss but I think the business Crawford and the board have done SO EARLY must be applauded. AJ always left it till last minute and felt as though he was always missing out on players, Crawford seems to be able to attract players to the club. I wonder if SC's (and the rest of staff) actual love for the club makes it a easier sell to players.

Cant wait for the season to start!

It must be an advantage to be in a position to offer deals in these uncertain times when some players don't know where next month's wages are coming from and some clubs don't feel able to commit.

It's probably a mix of many things:

- Nisbet has spent a season here and got a very decent move to Hibs. So we're a platform for players to put themselves in the shop window and earn a big contract elsewhere.

- The club seem to be realistic and straightforward to deal with i.e. they won't stand in a player's way if he has a chance to better himself.

- Crawford used to be an international striker and is still quite young. It's a good place for a young forward player to learn at.

- Steven Whittaker's signing maybe helps too. Played at a very high level, will be a good mentor on and off the pitch. I know it's not like playing with Messi, but if your options as a player are amongst the pool of provincial, full-time teams in Scotland, it can't do any harm.

- We're offering more than two year+ contracts over 3 months before a ball will be kicked. It offers some stability of earnings.

- We are a massive club.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

I think they've played this really well. Had the likes of Killie known we had money in the coffers from the Nisbet sale they could have asked more for Thomas. Doing it all at once or signing before sale has stopped that.

I hope nobody takes this as a negative post or thinks I'm having a sideswipe at a section of our support, but I believe today's business shows that the BoD have been vindicated in keeping faith with Stevie Crawford and his management team.

Of course, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, but I feel very optimistic at how the squad is shaping up. It is a great shame that we couldn't hold on to Nisbet, but that has always been our lot. Even in the 60s, when we could compete with the best in Scotland and in Europe, we regularly sold our best players to balance the books.

Back then, we seemed to unearth ready made replacements from lower league clubs or the juniors with ease. Maybe history is starting to repeat itself?

It was no shame about Nisbet, he done what we paid him for and sold to another club.
Today very pleased with signings.

Might even buy a subscription to PARSTV

Looking like the strongest squad we have had in a while, and there is still a couple to come in. If the forwards get among the goals we have a very good chance of promotion
