Signings - How many more and where?

So with the squad shaping up very nicely looking to start a separate thread on what you think we still need and how many

Add names of players you think.

I think we need at least 4 but would like 7

Goalkeeper
Centre Back/Left Back
Centre Mid
Winger

If we could get the 7 then another
Centre Midfielder
Another winger
Striker

Open to loans or permanent, Crawford always seem to find a decent youth player for a loan so I think we may get a few of them.

Lewis Spence, Ethan Ross, Anthony Mcdonald and Jamie Gullan.

Would also say Jonathan Afolabi, boy never really got a fair crack at it.

Owain Fon Williams, Ross Draper and Bruce Anderson. Get that 3 in and we would be in with a chance to win the league

Blair Alston and OFW.

I expect we will the former since the Courier mentioned it. Local lad and without a club after release by Hamilton.

OFW is still under contract at Accies but another loan would be nice.

Sure OFW is out of contract and Hamilton were negotiating with him when they made their statement on who was staying n leaving.

he was back for preseason training with them during the week.

a goalkeeper and a central midfielder. presume it will be Fon Williams, im not totally sold on him but there isnt a real standout available. midfielder ill throw Iain Wilson's name in, released my Killie, was on at QOS a couple of times and at 21 would be another one to develop.

get those two areas filled then i think they can wait and assess what to do in other areas whether its permanent or loans, younger or more experienced players. dont see any need for another left back option, on the right yes even if its a utility type player, another central midfielder with Todd going out on loan id hope to do and another wide player would do for me.

I think a left back is still needed

If Murray and Watson are first choice then Martin would be 3rd if any of them get injured then it will be left to Edwards and at the moment I think not good enough.

Right back can be covered by Whittaker

Wasn’t aware Iain Wilson had been released by Killie. Always impressed at QoS.

Would Lang not be centre half cover therefore Martin and Edwards cover left back.

Yeah Lang is cover for centre back but I think you need to have a natural left back or if we are using Martin there another centre back.

Murray and Watson were to get injured / suspended our back 4 would be

Comrie - Lang - Martin - Edwards

Not the most experienced, add to that Edwards didn’t really fill people with confidence and as for Lang I think there is a player in there but not played much at this level

Jamie McDonald has said he is looking for a club nearer his home in Edinburgh so you would think he is one SC has thought about. I don't know if he is any better than OFW but he always seems to play well against us.

I'd definitely be having a look at Danny Rogers, seemed pretty consistent for Morton and well thought of as a prospect from Aberdeen also a good age not too young or old. If not him probably one of OFW or MacDonald would do us for maybe a season. Would've liked to see if we could sneak Doohan from Celtic on loan but Ross county are set to sign him once Celtic sort out their GK issue.

Afolabi back on loan and a deal for Alston would be great imo. Main position we need is probably central midfield. Would quite like to see if Reece Cole would fit in the team, only 22, probably Thistle's best player last season in an otherwise poor team, was a Brentford youth product and is now a free agent. Think he scored a free kick screamer in the 5-1 game at EEP also. Other names Scott Martin who was at Hamilton last season or Mcginn who would be a good solid option.

apart from a couple of bad mistakes Edwards did a decent enough job, is there a better left back available than Martin? no imo. unless they loan him out if they had to use Fenton they would have no problem in doing so. if another centre half comes in it might be a youngster to develop.

Rogers is/was training with Killie but you would think he will be in the thinking if they dont go for or cant get OFW for whatever reason. I dont see another striker coming unless either McGill or McCann leave. Cole might be an option, there are plenty of names in that midfield area to look at, another one ill throw in that was released by Brentford is an ex Falkirk youth Jonny Mitchell. highly doubt Martin would be available and McGinn would be a no for me, better options available imo.

A striker some had been talking about, Salim Kouider-Aissa, has signed for Livingston from Queens Park after a successful trial.

What’s the obsession with fon Williams?? Thought he was bang average in his short time with us, never made any saves where you thought wow or saves that won us a game... actually thought Gill was really unlucky to be dropped for him considering he made tremendous saves in the game at Ayr away the week before which we won. I get OFW is older and experienced but just not that impressed

OFW saved a penalty at Firhill. It earned us a point and would have been three if the officials had done their jobs. He had his dodgy moments but he brought a bit of assurance after Scully's confidence went.

Could do with a box to box powerhouse type central midfielder unless wee Turner has been battering the weights during this break.

If you look at the players let go and the players signed we effectively have Watson for Ashcroft, Whittaker for Paton, McManus for Ryan, O'Hara for Nisbet and Thomas for Thomson. That leaves Scully, Beadling and Devine of the first-team squad to be replaced so we obviously need a goalie and an attacking midfielder. Craw may be happy with that as it gives youngsters like Lang, Edwards, Todd, McCann and McGill a chance of pushing for first-team selection.

Should definitely look at the boy McGinn who was released by St.Mirren.

Obviously need a keeper as well whether that be OFW or MacDonald. Not sure if Crawford will want another look at the boy Duncan as well on loan from QPR for the middle of the park.

All really depends on what system he is looking to play. Would be a 4231 for me I think

Goalie...

Comrie Watson Murray Martin

Whittaker and ?(would be McGinn for me if we looking at him)

Dow O'Hara Thomas

McManus

C'mon Ye Pars!

Would take Jackson Longridge back, left wingback or midfield.

Is he still tied to Bradford/Torquay??

Martin a far better left back in a back four. Longridge was ok as a wingback and scored a couple but was vastly overrated. Loved a challenge and a header though so made him an easy fan favourite.

Yeah our supporters overrated him, player of the year was he not?🤔

Plus Bradford paid us money for him!

Really though that season no-one deserved that award. Longridge was just a little less shîtë than the others.
