What a signing for Kelty. They arguably have a squad that could challenge for the league one title, never mind the lowland league.

Throw Hearts and Partick out of the league and let Kelty and Brora be promoted.

Can we assume Higgy has also taken up a job outside football?

I would have thought that he could have got a deal at a higher level but maybe they have offered a deal that suits him better. Every time there is a mention of Kelty on this forum folk seem to be quite pleased for them. Wouldn't a successful Kelty possibly effect the attendances at East End Park?

Wouldn't have thought much, in an ideal world I go to all the Pars home games, some away, regardless of how well we are doing.

I pick a game, generally Hill of Breath, Rosyth when they played at the rec. Lochore a couple of times etc. This season probably Crossgates, even Cowden.

But I can't see me 'supporting' anyone else, even if I lived in Kelty.

If Kelty went up a few leagues would the home support actually change?

surely Kelty can’t support a league 1 team if they did well over the next few years?

Just sitting here drenched in my own negativity!

No reason long term Kelty can’t be an Arbroath or Alloa, not so long ago both Brechin and Cowdenbeath were also in the championship with crowds of less than what Kelty, or Bonnyrigg for that matter get.
Great set up and part time model thats is working well.
Crowds on average 500/600 plus bigger if any away fans turn up. Well over 1000 for Bonnyrigg match.
Around 6500 people live in Kelty with over a 1000 new houses planned, so expanding.
Excellent youth and ladies team set ups too.

My family are from Kelty.
My Dei used to take me to NCP when it was just a field with old goalposts behind the primary school. At that time the other junior team, Kelty Rangers, played in another part of the village. It didn’t survive for long but the maroon juniors did. To see the ground now as it is, with the facilities, three stands and community sponsorship is brilliant.

Anyway, that’s why I like the wee Hearts. You’ll probably find connections between their fans and the village everywhere, just the same as our bigger teams started out.

Their ladies team is also top notch.

Not sure, they have a very small support for a successful club. 150 is typical.

There are plans to build a 4000 seat stadium!

Ex Clyde player and property tycoon James Kean and sports journalist Iain King formed them in 2010 after failing in a takeover bid of Clyde who they wanted to move to EK.John Hartson was honorary president when they formed.

They formed a consortium and made an initial investment of £700,000 to provide two state of the art 3G pitches and a 500-seater stand at the Showpark and in the longer-term, a £100m development would herald a new stadium in the Langlands area of East Kilbride, over 450 houses, shops, a new primary school, as well as business and retail space. The income generated from the retail units was to be put into a trust to allow the football club to have a long-term cash stream.

I see Higgy has started an apprenticeship as a tiler. He says his brief stay in Kashmir convinced him there was more to life than chasing a football dream and that he should plan for some security for his family after his football career was over, sooner rather than later.

He'll have been given a job through the bloke that invests the money into the club, the Conservatory Convertors I'm sure. Stephen Husband and Nathan Austin has a job through them too.
