Signs for Derry City teaming up again with Declan Devine, who would have been Pars assistant when Hammill played for us.

Jeez. He would still do a job for us. What a player.

I think it's fair to say he didn't fulfill the promise he showed as a young player. My favourite memory of him in a Pars' shirt was nutmegging Neil Lennon in the Cup Final.

I think his off field lifestyle is what holds him back .

I thought it was flicking the ball over Lenny's head rather than a Nut-Meg @wee_eck ?

You could be right, JC. My memory's not the best. It certainly left Lennon flat-footed and was a rare highlight in a lacklustre final.

Awful final decided by Jon-Joel Perrier Doumbe’s only ever goal. I believe it was hijacked by the media to the ‘Jinky’ final, in the same way 2004 was the ‘Larsson’ final.

But yes Hammill did flick the ball over Lennons head before someone cynically fouled him (maybe Pressley) taking a yellow for the team.

Thanks, Par; cynical stuff from Pressley.

He developed into quite a player. Very intelligent feet and a real eye for goal...

I remember him fondly in a black and white top. He was definitely a player, the like of which we hadn’t seen before. He so nearly played a significant role in winning the Scottish cup. Ok, we lost, but the final, while rather drab and flat, was nothing if not close.

At that point great things were expected of Adam - he’d go back to Liverpool and soon establish himself in the team. And did he? Of course not - his was the distressingly familiar tale of another nearly man. I was very disappointed, I so wanted him to make it. As others here have pointed out, he didn’t help himself and there were tales of off-field antics as one loan spell followed another in a tail spin of disappointments and underachievement. What a shame - he could have been so much more I feel.

Perhaps Hammill falls into the group of footballers who have the talent/ability to make the grade, but don't possess the mental fortitude to make the most of their attributes.

"Dedication is what you need" as the late Roy Castle used to say,

Dedication, allied to determination, single mindedness, self sacrifice etc.

Not your average Sunday League player.

While he was very good for us I dont think he ever was an English top flight player.

He stood out a mile as he was a tricky winger amongst a pretty average team and brought a lot of the highlights in a terrible season.

He's had a decent career in the English lower leagues which is what I would have expected based on what i saw for us.

Played a season in the premier league. He’s made a decent career for himself. Not sure if I’ve been as excited about a pars player since him. Remember feeling gutted when he was on the bench!
