 Josh is going to Wembley
Topic Originator: Stanza

Harrogate Town beat Boreham Wood 1-0 today to reach the final of the National League play-offs. They'll play Notts County or Barnet at Wembley on 2 August, for a place in League Two.

Congratulations to Josh Falkingham for leading Harrogate to their first ever appearance at Wembley.

Delighted for the lad. Was sorry to see him leave us, but seems like he is loving life down the road as captain and also reserve team coach.

Used to be a big club. Remember being at their match at Anfield 1983/84 - had likes of Martin O,'Neill & Justin Fashanu playing for them

When I read your post, I thought you'd mixed up County with Forest, but on checking I saw you were spot on. According to Wikipedia, County were top after the first round of games, thanks to a 4-0 away win at Leicester. Sadly, they finished 2nd from bottom and were relegated. Wolves opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against reigning champions, Liverpool, but finished last.

Moral of the story - don't read too much into the first game of the season.

Not your average Sunday League player.

It'll be Harrogate v Notts County in the final and there will be TWO ex-Pars on the field probably. Ex-Celtic loanee Jim O'Brien now plays for County.

Well done Harrogate Town (even though it sticks in my craw a bit). It will be interesting to see how they perform on the big Wembley turf pitch. If they do manage to win they will have to rip up their artificial pitch before the new season starts. They are showing what a small club can do with decent investment spent the right way. I wish them well. When Josh Falkingham played against us he spent the game falling over screaming and old Manning the referee. I really wished he was playing for us though.

In my head I though Josh would be nearing his mid-30s by now buts he's only 29. The days of administration and League One seem like a long time ago.

Forever the Big team

Notts County dropped out the English Leagues to National League 2018/2019 season, think that is 5th tier.

Delighted for Josh.

The play-offs worked out well, with the team that finished 2nd (and had a chance of catching Barrow if the league hadn't been curtailed) beating the team that finished 3rd.

I like both York and Harrogate as towns to visit. I was sorry to see York City fall through the trap door a few years ago. It is very pleasing to see Harrogate gaining promotion to the league proper for the first time. The Pars connection is nice too - I wish them well.
