Yes, the idea of sharing facilities, particularly training facilities and Covid-19 costs, is a very innovative and smart decision.

Well done to both clubs.

Good work, looks like two members of the SPFL board and their clubs have worked together to set an example....

Hopefully others such as Raith & East Fife can come to a similar arrangement..... not sure how playing a "home" game at Starks if it came to it would have gone down.......
Does the Indodrill still have a plastic pitch? If so it will be better able to cope with increasing usage.....

Essentially it is all about us securing a dedicated training facility.

It would work better with Alloa as they are part time. Their plastic pitch won't be used during the day.

Great idea, I imagine a few near neighbour clubs will follow suit.

"Their plastic pitch won't be used during the day."

That might need a second opinion, it's hired out to the community, one of the reasons they went plastic.

I'm glad it's with Alloa & not Raith - the Raith chairman has a massive chip on his shoulder regarding anything to do with us - plus their fans would hate it if there were any link-up between the 2 clubs. McGlynn is a bitter wee man too - a long interview about Nisbet in last weeks Courier & not one mention of his year at EEP - just how good he is at spotting talent.

I spoke to the chairman at Kelty a couple of weeks ago and he didn’t think the sharing of facilities would work at NCP given the size of their changing areas etc so this is great news.

Well done to the Wasps for their commitment to a working partnership.

I doubt very much that they will be hiring it out now.

Why would we pay for a facility that has hundreds of folk using it. The whole point seems like to secure a 'bio-safe' training base that is exclusively for the use of SPFL players.

this was in the Sun at the start of last month, no chance Raith or Kelty could have this in place so it makes a lot of sense.

"Alloa Athletic and their ambitious chairman Mike Mulraney, meanwhile, is planning to build 40 individual changing pods for players and officials in time for a return to Championship play in October.
Proposals have been drawn up for individual cubicles - incorporating personal toilet facilities - within the Alloa Leisure Bowl, close to the Indodrill Stadium.
The SFA vice president told the Daily Mail: "Football is going to be different, but we don't know what that different looks like yet.
"But we can make a pretty fair guess and we need to be ready for it.
"Obviously, we are looking at our testing options and how we will deal with that.
"And, when training and games return, our changing rooms will no longer be fit for purpose.
"So we are creating new changing facilities four times the size of what we have now, with each player being given his own individual pod.
"We are looking at 40 individual changing pods to start with. We think, right now, that seems the likely requirement for when we come back.
"Every player will have their own toilet and personal pod to change in and have their own secure environment.
"We can't wait and hope that the facilities might be okay."

Ross is quoted on COWS as saying ''...it also provides us with certainty, as using a facility operated by a local authority next season could be extremely challenging on a number of fronts.''

What does this refer to? Is it a reference to Kelty's ground?

Training at Kelty would have been a better option if possible.
Could have used our own changing facilities as it's only 10 minutes away.

Every player with their own toilet sounds like massive overkill from a cost perspective.

Don't see the point in this at all. They'll all come out their own pods then start training together. What's the point?

Showering and other bodily functions are an environment where transmission rates would be much higher should a player be carrying the virus and not displaying symptoms.

Big McArthur walked in and said "This is mine, right?" and walked out. Fired a few WhatsApp pics of himself spraying "DAFC #1" on the toilet wall.

if they could have continued what they normally do ie changing at EEP and training at Kelty they would have, they obviously cant for various reasons.

Well done to both Boards, I think this is a great initiative, it has obviously been thought out very well and will beneficial to both clubs whilst recovering from the lock down period. Superb!

Of course, it goes without saying that Alloa will be secretly videoing all our training sessions...

The problem at Kelty is that they train on a Tuesday and our young team played on the same day; so cleaning between those times wouldn’t be possible.

The Pars could have used the community changing rooms at the community centre (next to Kelty Primary School) but that would be based only on how the centre was functioning; and would still need cleaners to be employed.

I wonder if that means then, that if the changing facilities at EEP are not good enough in the current situation, we may end up playing our home games in Alloa?

As I remember the last time that I walked past the Leisure Bowl to get to the Recs it was about 0.5 miles. Not very close unless the players change and then drive. There is the 5 a side area next to the Recs perhaps that is where the pods will be built. Time will tell.
