Nicola Sturgeon announced it in Parliament today :-

''Sports stadia can have limited spectators from 14 September
Ms Sturgeon says she hopes further changes will be possible from Monday 14 September, and full details are available on the Scottish government website.

The first minister says she hopes that from that day:

Sports stadia will be able to reopen for limited numbers of spectators, with physical distancing in place.
Some professional sports events may be arranged for spectators before then – with Scottish government agreement''

Not a guarantee of course.

Fair enough, da. If the FM says so there must be a chance of it happening. I say a chance because she's been playing it very cautiously and if there's any hint of a new spike it won't happen.

Good to hear though. It's brightened up a fairly driech day.

Assume it will be the October game v Israel.
I'm sure UEFA(or FIFA can't mind which) announced last week all September games will be behindclosed doors

What will our depleted capacity be? Around 3000 would be my estimation. Probably, that might almost be around our number of season ticket holders. That's not allowing in any away fans.

I suspect season ticket holders at any home game for 90% of teams in Scotland should be acceptable and manageable based on where we are now

Give everyone seat numbers, that may not be their season ticket seats but which fulfil the social distancing measures. Work it out from there, stewards and police keep everyone in check while moving around the stadium.

Perhaps we need to leave bit by bit as not to amass on the stairs etc

Shouldn't be overly difficult.

Given what I hear from Premiership Clubs,an Attendance in excess of 4000 looks more than likely.

That would allow eg a quarter of the crowd to be non Season Ticket holders.

Re the social distancing thing. Please remember many families go to games so they can sit together.
It won't be that everyone must social distance.

If you only turn up to moan then do it elsewhere

If they are going to apply social distancing there should be no exceptions (even for families). If there is an empty seat between everyone, it is hardly an imposition; it will actually be a more comfortable viewing experience.

Can't see why you would say that Oz. Surely if families want to sit together that lets more people in. Can't see the down side.

I know that the natural instinct is for families to huddle together, but the practicality of operating social distancing makes that impossible. There will be "X" marks on seats to indicate that you either can or can't sit on them. I can't remember which is which, to be honest.

To stray from that system, will cause chaos. Again, in practical terms, how this is policed will determine its success or otherwise. But prior to the game starting that is how it should apply. After kick-off, I would be very surprised if families didn't shuffle along in their seats to get closer together.

Crazy world now but at least we are still alive so if allowed back in to games care will be needed. How do they police it though as we have our own share of idiots that will congregate.Snacks, toilets etc are always busy so how do they keep them clean with a load of guys who have had few.

Imagine an old firm game with social distancing. Not a hope in hell of that.

I'd love to get back to a game but I doubt that it will be able to be controlled.

Ok so for season ticket holders you know that you've sold to more than 1 person in a household and you mark the seats accordingly.
For the remaining seats that you can't use mark the seats accordingly & void the corresponding numbers on the computer system. You can then sell the rest with people sitting in the seats they purchased.
If policing is an issue only make certain areas available for walk up sales and enforce those.

I would doubt there would be any walk up option, might even be the case tickets will have to be purchased a few days in advance to enable planning.

Season tickets make it way easier initially. As Club has address, contact details etc. Can’t see walk ups or away fans for a good while.

If more than one person sits side by side (families) then that affects where the next individual fan can find a seat in that row.

The nuts n' bolts of allowing punters into games needs careful planning.

Could walk up fans not be put in the traditional away end ?

In my opinion only season ticket holders should be allowed in and as far as families are involved then can sit together if part of the same household or bubble everybody else should be socially distanced and spread around the stadium if necessary

"In my opinion only season ticket holders should be allowed in........."

ST holders should get priority - but if there is a positive difference between ground capacity (under distancing rules) and the number of STs held then there is no reason why "walk ups" can't be accommodated.

Makes financial sense as well.

Non ST holders would need to pre-order and pay for a ticket in advance for collection of course.

Once the limit is reached that's the ground full.

The procedure for collecting tickets could be an issue.

To be fair, that's England where they are still suffering for the way their citizens in certain areas are acting. I don't want to sound racist but these citizens probably prefer cricket. This comment came from an Asian gentleman. I think that when we are allowed back it will be interesting to see how the two big Glaswegian clubs fans act.

eastendalloapar you are generalising a wee bit there. There is as much chance of groups gathering at house parties as there is of Asians gathering for Eid. The last three or four weeks the local paper has said the infection rate was coming down then all of a sudden they are going up.its a crock. I am absolutely gutted at this we have just been given a date for our season to start (National North and South is October the 3rd with crowds )I have booked hotels in Scotland for a trip up in October. Only for a tightening of restrictions. I think it will get worse unfortunately.

That doesn’t make the statement any less true. There IS as much chance of folk gathering for house parties as folk gathering for Eid. I’ll also add pubs to the argument. At least the folk in your photo are outside.

There are no masks worn in pubs and you can mix with as many households as you like as long as you are at the one table, same with restaurants but the reason for the north of England going back into lockdown is the fault of Muslims though eh?

There were queues like that outside Primark when it was allowed to re open. The area in Bradford with the highest infection rate in the two most recent sets of stats is Shearbridge and university. Which is a bedsit land you are as likely to see Eastern European's there as Asians.

What's more depressing - people attending a religious celebration that is incredibly important to their faith, or the people who travelled to England to have a pint in a pub 2 days before pubs were reopened in Scotland?

Neither group is particularly clever but the likes of the Daily Mail will be desperate to finger point at the Muslims as that's what their readers want. Bloody Muslims, coming over here and not being regular church goers like the rest of us...

Gatherings are now banned in those areas. For all groups. Can I suggest they just deal with it. Like we all are. Why should Muslim festivals be treated ANY differently?
