 Bolingoli
Topic Originator: rossmcno1

Not only is he a below average left back, but his recent trip to Spain and subsequent failure to adhere to quarantine rules could be about to ensure Scottish football is paused.

🤦🏻‍♂️

Can't make it up. If he has been with the squad during his quarantine period, then then whole club needs to go into self isolation for 2 weeks. Could mean forfeit of the euro fixture next week too now if that happens, UEFA won't be as soft as Spfl.

This is completely unacceptable. It's a borderline sackable offence. Again, the club is responsible for this idiots actions and should be punished severely.

It beggars belief. This combined with the shenanigans of the Aberdeen players will likely get Scottish football stopped. How many more chances will the Scottish govt give the spfl? Its not just about football its about how the Scottish public will react. Lockdown in the UK took a major dive after BJ refused to take action against Dominic Cummings because the publics attitude seemed to be, well if its OK for him it's OK for me. Sturgeon is a much stronger leader and won't allow that I'm sure. Time will tell.

The league created a rod for its own back by not deducting points from Aberdeen as now they can't really do anything more severe in this case without spouting a outcry from both sides of the ugly sisters

c'mon the pars

I wonder what is in our players contracts in respect of a suspension of the league? Would we still have to pay them or would contracts of employment also be paused?
The whole thing could get enormously messy. The First Minister was furious with the conduct of the Aberdeen players but this is potentially more serious with wider ramifications.

He should be dismissed straight away. Forgetting that he breached club protocol, he's also ignored government advice by needlessly travelling and potentially infecting others due to his gross stupidity.

Does this mean Celtic played an ineligible player on Sunday? - not sure if it’s just the Govt rules he broke or the SPFL rules as well.

This is much more serious than Aberdeen imo.
At least they went into a local bar oblivious but stupid.
What he did broke strict quarantine rules handed down from government both Scottish and UK.

His case is similar to that of Jofra Archer, the England cricketer who nipped home between Test matches. I think he was quarantined for a week, which meant he missed a Test match, and fined. Bolingoli's case is probably more serious though because he left the country and he must also have been aware of the repercussions from the Aberdeen players' breach. I could see some reason for mitigation if he owned up rather than was found out.

Football clubs in Scotland clearly cannot be trusted. ScotGov doesn’t care who you are in stature unlike the SPFL.
Sturgeon will not put up with this nonsense, after clubs chasing the government for a resumption.
Well done Premiership, you c&&&ed it up.
If players cannot be trusted under clubs stewardship there is NO HOPE of them being trusted handling spectators.

Nicola Sturgeon seems to see it as a yellow card offence rather than a red card one but a lot depends on the response from the SPFL.

Yellow card but I expect supporters back to stadiums will be a huge leap now. It seems that the government from the briefing has a lack of trust both in health and management terms. I think this story still has to unfold after that briefing. It is is the first time I have seen a public health professional come close to what I would consider angry. The public health officer was as livid as a head of any organisation would get in a public forum.

All games involving Aberdeen and Celtic this week are off apparently. Celtic were due to play Aberdeen at home next Saturday so it's the midweek card that's mainly disrupted.

What about their Champions League match next Wednesday? UEFA wont take risks, i suspect they may have to forfeit that match? That would be a disaster for Celtic and very costly.
If club only became aware on Monday, will the 14 day period for the rest of the squad start then?
If Rangers win the next 2 V st Johnstone and Livi - they could be 8 behind and already in catch up mode in a very busy schedule.

It’s all very well saying terminate his contract but he is an asset Celtic paid something like £3m for. Contract termination would be a reward as he would find another club and get a higher wage as a free agent.
There are no morals in top flight football and so no real consequences.

If he caught a commercial flight over to Spain from Glasgow or Edinburgh you would have thought someone would have spotted him and plastered it all over social media thus alerting his club?

Not everything goes a players way. Surely there will be a termination clause whereby he has to pay for breaching his contract?

It will be interesting to see how Celtic deal with this. Managers normally stand by their players in public but given that Brown and Lennon would have been in the meeting with all other club captains and managers when this news broke, I would have expected a frank direction on the health status from the chief medical officer.
It is a real sad situation but more so for the smaller clubs who need the fans in stadia. These players compromise the SPFL position every step. Was there any statement from the SPFL on the Aberdeen situation about sanctions. I have missed the last few days.

Journalist friend has two stories.

1, After registering at the airport for coming in from spain, he failed to go to the registered address to self isolate, sparking questions to his whereabouts.

2, He drove to france and flew in from there, which I doubt.

Either way it is still a selfish thing to do and the SPFL should fine and ban the player at least.

only 11 make the team, the rest can just but dream.

That being said, he's played 3 won 3 and scored 3 and his team are top of the league, although to be honest last night he looked fairly docile.
