Would be a good signing for Dundee if they can pull it off!

One of my favourite players, would dominate that team- doesn't need pace, his natural ability alone will be great to watch.

Wouldn't be able to hack the pace of the championship and would be overrun. Made his career pinging 60 yard diagonals in behind defenders while he had time on the ball, a luxury you don't get at this level. An expensive failure waiting to happen...Not like Dundee have a history of overspending though.

I think he'd bring great depth to the squad. Exactly the kind of guy we should be looking to bring in.

Last year the Dundee fans all thought Graham Dorrans would be the standout player in the league - that didn’t work out well.

Based on his performances in the last couple of years I’ll be surprised if Adam does much better.

I’d love to think he’s playing for a pittance - he certainly loves the club and has always said he’d like to finish his career there - and I’m sure there will be a significant upsurge in season ticket sales for them.

Nah Dorrans didn’t work out well. He just played a season with Dundee then Utd took him on to play a level above the following season....Lord have mercy

'Wouldn’t hack the pace of the championship...aye ok haha read some baffling stuff on here at times. Will stroll it min.'

What's your justification for this? Considering he was never blessed with pace and he's now approaching his mid thirties and the championship is renowned for its hundred mile an hour non stop speed.

Your other comment about Dorrans is just so wrong I won't even go into it. Baffling for sure.

My justification for that is he played 21 games in the English Championship last season. His sheer footballing skill will compensate for his lack of pace at this level. Aye, that’s why players avoid the Scottish championship right enough, too fast.

Don’t go into it then? You might investigate but yer no looking in the right places laddy

He is AJ27, Alterpar is making some 'baffling' comments. Also 'sheer footballing skill' doesn't compensate for the pace in the championship, just ask Gary Harkins, Dean Shiels, Graham Dorrans etc. At this level you need to run all game and you get no time on the ball which would kill Charlie Adams game.

Speed of brain trumps speed of foot at this level. He will know what the other player is going to fo before they do..

I guess every club at our level looks to sign a so-called "marquee player".

If Dundee sign Charlie Adam, then good luck to them.

We've signed Steven Whittaker who has much the same pedigree; played for Scotland, played in the EPL and the Championship as well as the Scottish Premier.

I'm quite happy with our choice, thanks.

He might be getting on a bit, but he will be the best player in the league. With his range of passing and footballing brain, if they can build the team around him it could be a masterstroke

Good footballer in his day ....Never blessed with the pace to be a Great footballer
Also has a nasty streak that can surface under provocation
Yes a good signing on paper and hope it works out for him but time will tell
Look forward to seeing him at EEP

So won't be hindered by any perceived drop in pace.

Could be a season-defining signing for them...

I genuinely think he will struggle.

While some older players come into this league and do well, most generally disappear fairly quickly. McFadden, Dorrans come to mind right away and maybe with more thought I could think of more. Sometimes on a footballers downward trajectory the drop is that fast that they can’t maintain a standard that is needed.

One thing the championship has a lot of, are combative, energetic midfielders in opposition. He may well prove me wrong, but if I was a coach against him I’d just make sure I had an energetic, physical presence on him throughout the game and stop him playing.

Maybe that’s why I post on here rather than manage a club right enough. 😂 time will tell but I don’t think he’ll be Good for Dundee.

'Aye but apparently he won’t be able to handle the electrifying pace of the Scottish Championship haha!'

We will see how he handles having no time on the ball then and no space to ping 60 yard diagonals into. Feel free to come back to this post in 3/4 months time and admit you were wrong.

He will clearly have enough about him to be a competent addition to any squad at this level but I see nothing in his game that suggests he will be sensational and a game changer for Dundee this season. Think his game suits the higher level.

Great signing imo.English Championship to Scottish Championship is a big drop in class. At 34 he is 3 years younger than Dobbie for example and look at the impact he has had despite playing in an inferior side. His set pieces alone will cause problems for other teams.

Haven't forgiving him for barely trying a leg against Wales and letting Bale saunter by him and score back in the day. Grudge!
No doubt he was a quality player and if he has the guys willing to put the graft in around him he could be a really good signing but I have my doubts whether this will work out.

Awight Pat!

Will be good to see him in the championship.

I thought Dorrans was going to make Dundee a force mind you so he might be a huge letdown.
