 Only one striker
Topic Originator: onandupthepars

I like our Dec - he gets in the face of the opposition, he.s always in there scrapping, but why is he considered to be a striker? Seems to me he doesn.t take up central positions or get in the box much. So is it not the case that we really only have one striker? It alarms me. Sure, Stevie said after the Killie game - "You can see there.s goals in the team."

Don.t we DEFO need another recognised striker?

(Sorry, forgot McGill. But seems to me O.Hara.s the only one who.s played as a regular first team striker. )

Concerned about our lack of options up front for weeks and I am perplexed as to why we have not added at least one striker.

Last time mcmanus was here he really struggled to put the ball in the net and at times never looks like scoring, he got by on workrate etc.

Like fais he had a great year in an overpowering full time team in the seaside league but will be interesting to see if he can cut it this time out, he’s not not a poacher.

Mcmanus did okay in a very good Ross county team too but again they were the best team by a mile while we’re not going to create anywhere near the chances he got.

Need both strikers to get off the mark ASAP that’s for sure.

A bit weird comparing McManus with Faiss. Two completely different types of player.

We do need another striker tho but there's plenty goals elsewhere in the team.

I agree totally different players but there’s a similarity in that a lot of players can do damage in league 1 but look bang average in this league. Andy ryan is another one.

All we need is someone to get us corners. Murray will do the rest...

Cracker by McManus there too. Will admit I'm also not 100% convinced about him as an out and out striker but if he gets goal like that every week there will be no complaints from me :-)

We do need a striker but sometimes you have to be patient. There’s no point getting someone in for the sake of it, better to be patient and wait for the right player who will enhance the squad otherwise you’ve wasted the wages.

C’mon dunce no1, thats a bit premature.....even for you!

fine margins at this level, he was not up to much at all today but as long as he takes those sort of chances when they come along he’ll do fine....I’m yet to be convinced that wasn’t just the 1 out of 10 that hit the net.

I thought before we let McGill go we still needed a striker so I am pretty much in the camp of If we could get another in great but I doubt we will

I think it’s more likely that we will play Down up there at times with us having the option of Murray out wide, we also have McCann who can play wide and up top.

There isn’t much out there so as said by others be as well biding our time than wasting a wage.

I really hope OHara can get a goal soon. Does look a bit off it for me but it’s very early doors

3 year deal for O’Hara is a big commitment.

Stevie obviously sees something, I do hope the rest of us see it soon

Another striker is a must. McManus is a great signing and I’m sure O’hara will come good but they need some real competition. Otherwise with an injury to either of them we’ll be in real bother.

we already have seen bits of what O.Hara can do but it is only bits, what we need to see is more of that in a half or full game.

with McGill gone we now need another option, it might not be an out and out striker but someone has to come in till January.

Crawford in his interview that's just been put up sounds fairly happy with the current situation, no mention of getting someone in but maybe he would never reveal that anyway. Might not want to push McCann further down the pecking order and destroy his confidence by not playing him at all. But if we do get a couple of injuries we will be struggling for numbers in the attacking part of our game. Possibly if we get through the league Cup and manage to get a good draw with high PPV figures that may well allow us to invest in another option, would probably have to be a free agent and not many come to mind though...

As SC said the likes of Dow and Thomas can play as a ST you would just change formation to suit i.e

Comrie Murray Watson Edwards

Whittaker

Murray Watson Dow

McManus Thomas
