How did we end up having a game on Saturday followed by a Tuesday ( Hearts Away) and a Friday ( Morton Away) games ? The game on the Friday evening was moved for TV purposes but I would have thought that as we were already playing on the Tuesday that would have been ruled out ? Its quite an ask on our relatively small squad to play Saturday/Tuesday/Friday .
I wonder if we had any say in it?

Don’t see it being an issue, players would rather be playing, professionals should be able to cope and it’s not like it’s that week in week out.

no reason why it would be ruled out and its been done before by us and other Championship teams in the past.
the full card on the 12th was meant to be on the 9th but the dates for the cup had not been set when the league fixtures were done, so that had to be moved and presumably the league thought the next midweek was the simplest option.

No much different from the playing a Sat.-Wed.-Sat. cycle.

Never understood the whole players can't play a few games in a week patter especially now where they have all the sports science and recovery but seems to be more of a complaint now compared to in the past.
c'mon the pars

It's nothing really to do with 'can't play a few games a week'
It's maintaining your standard.
In the past, most teams were in the same boat so it wasn't an issue.
I'd agree it's probably not an issue in our league though.

I dont think its down to the players, reckon it would be the reduced preparation to play against the next opposition, studying how they play, how to counter etc. Think most players at this level would rather play

Biggest reason it`s not a problem is Morton are doing exactly the same thing and 2 of the 3 games are against them.
Would have thought it suited us slightly more if anything.

We were talking on another thread about players regularly playing games on Jan 1 and 2 in the 60s. There was even one year when Jan 1st fell on a Tuesday, so we had games Sat, Tues, Wed, Sat.
Not your average Sunday League player.

GG - Back in the mid 60s the club had to play 5 competitive fixtures across 12 days due to a Scottish Cup tie going to a second replay, and a European game at the end.
Without a defeat.
