Posted this on the PPV thread but I’ll move it here instead.

According to the Morton statement a pitch inspection is to take place on Friday morning. Anyone know why?

Seems a bit odd especially looking at the forecast, which suggests a milder night with the temperature not likely to drop below zero before 3pm on Saturday.

Mon the pars!

Isn't not 10 days isolation? When did they first discover someone was positive? Anyone else in the squad with symptoms will then have to isolate for 10 days from the date the symptoms began.

From their statement

"As the self-isolation period expires later on Monday evening (11th), the entire First-Team squad will be available for selection from that point."

Game will be off. Snowing through the night for 2nd night in a row here in Erskine, temperatures barely above freezing during the day

Not in Greenock it won’t. Lows of -1 overnight then up to 5 by kick off.

I've had look on their websites and can find anything. Hopefully they've told our club and are not playing silly b**gers!

What’s happening? I have looked everywhere for an update after the pitch inspection - can’t find one anywhere!

Think they made a mistake and it’s maybe tomorrow morning???

Let’s work our way back to Premier League 👌😀

the club knew about the inspection etc, nothing to do with Morton being at it or "silly b**gers".

and playing Hearts or any competitive game tomorrow if it is off would never be considered.

Dafc
Scottish cup takes preference so Hearts game gets played some other time and if you remember the next game against Morton has been moved to the Friday night the 15th instead of the Saturday !
if the Scottish cup tie didn`t take preference We could have left the Hearts game on the Tuesday and the Friday night game could have been the cup game and rearranged the league game against Morton would be less mucking about for teams but rules are rules

Taking up the point by SuperJoe1885; did Morton make any discernible effort to have the match on this weekend?

The MET office states the temperature in Greenock this afternoon and Sunday afternoon will be 7c.

The forecast for Tuesday evening is -2c.

It’s the overnight temperatures that make the surface unplayable.

I think you know the answer to that and the main reason behind it. Why would they go out of their way to make the pitch playable, when some of their players are isolating?

Not your average Sunday League player.

My question is, as Morton won't have a heated pitch do they have covers? Did they even try to use them., remember that their ground is close to the river Clyde and probably doesn't suffer from frost an much as inland grounds. Knowing that their players are infected with Covid, I only hope that they don't pass it on to our team.

no idea if they have covers but they are not a guaranteed solution as Arbroath found out this morning. the game would have been off regardless imo.
