I watched Stoke v Leicester. Leicester are a sweet-moving side, even with a few fringe players in. Stoke were missing a few strikers apparently, including Steven Fletcher, and their only threat was from set-plays but they eventually ran out of steam and ideas. I`d forgotten about Harry Souttar, (brother of John of Hearts) who was playing at centre back for Stoke. He was up against Harvey Barnes, who`s pretty quick and tricky, and did OK. Some good goals in the 4-0 win for Leicester.

The elite clubs ,are not interested in the F.A cup. They play weakened sides, so I have no interest in it.Thank god the Scottish clubs hold our competition in high regard.

The Scottish Cup is a much better competition than the FA Cup - and has been for years. It's the pinnacle of achievable ambition for around half the teams in the country.

It's a bit of an indictment on the league, due to the dominance of the former old-firm, but the cup benefits from it.

Arsenal played a pretty strong side against Newcastle and Kieran Tierney was outstanding. Somehow Steve Clarke will have to accommodate him and Robertson in our side for the Euros. I see McTominay scored the only goal for Manchester United against Watford too.

Tierney is back playing as an attacking full back too. This is a good thing for him as it's where he's best. It does give Steve Clarke a challenge though.

Tierney will be either the left sided centre half or right back unless we find a proper RB he will be a sub, Clarke will play Robertson unless he is injured

In the last 25 years only Wigan and Portsmouth outside of the big six have won the trophy. That says they take it pretty seriously.

Only 9 of those 25 years have seen a final between 2 of the top 6 teams.
So maybe not a seriously as you think but more seriously than twin par thinks.

I actually went through the list of games to count it up so I did actually 😉

If we're applying the logic then there's only been two finals between the big two in the last 25 years in Scotland.

Also looks like there have been more teams from outside of the top flight in Scotland make it through to the final which is a surprise if you define elite teams as teams in the top flight as they apparently take it more seriously..

Once into the latter rounds the big 6 start putting better teams out .
What would drive me mad ,is if you supported a Newcastle ,West Ham type team and they put out weakened teams against lower league opposition, and end up going out .
Wigan showed what can be done ,I know they were relegated the same season they won the cup ,but I think most fans would take that .

They don't always as you can see from City's starting eleven today. It varies quite a bit.

I agree with your other point though. Looking at the side that Villa put put the other night you wonder why they even bother.

Villa had no option but to play their youngsters after a positive covid test in their usual first squad

Their 2nd string defence is as bad as the 1st teams by the looks of it.

I don’t normally watch any English football but really enjoyed Crawley v Leeds United. Cracking to see the minnows beat the big guns.

Leeds were awful. I can only recall the Crawley keeper making one save. On paper that Leeds team should have been enough to seee them through. It does show how much they rely on Bamford to give them an attacking shape.

Agreed ,without someone leading the line ,Leeds seemed to lose all thier pattern off play ,and had little cutting edge .
Bamford has been a revelation up top for Leeds , considering he's had a few goes in the EPL without looking up to it .
