Cancelled for at least 3 weeks
Championship can only continue if there is weekly PcR testing.
Tried to post link to STV news but didn’t work.

I see testing is to commence for all staff and players, does it say who`s to pay for this

I`d assume the clubs will need to pay for it.
What happens if some clubs agree and others don`t due to costs??

"The Scottish Cup will also be suspended, with any matches scheduled to be played prior to the 1st February to be rescheduled in due course"
From the statement a bit further down.....

The 500k grant all the teams got should be used to help fund it.

Maybe should be in another thread but Celtic are under some pressure now with the amount of players having to isolate. Seems like the bubble groups were not followed either. Does this mean that the other appeals will be influenced by this? Celtic will need to field a new team tonight in respect of the transgressions of Dubai and at least the premier league has a clear winner in case everything shuts down again.
Makes sense if there is no testing. But would be interested to know what the current infection rate is in Scottish football.

We surely can’t play a game tomorrow night given that the statement says that all players must be tested in advance of games from now on....testing won’t be done and results back by then (I wouldn’t have thought).

the only way there will be games tomorrow night is if the league put fixtures in without the clubs agreement and force them in to playing, that wont happen imo.
a plus point from the cup being binned for now is there is a free weekend on the 30th which id expect the full week 12 card to be played on.
elvis says the 500k should be used for testing, it will have to be as the clubs dont have the money for it if they agree to continue which ive got doubts that they will.

My son went for a test at Glasgow Airport last week & got his negative result back later that evening.

Lateral Flow tests give results in 30 minutes. These are being used (voluntarily) daily in NHS Fife.

Having said that, most were on Scottish Cup duties.

Yes all of those matches were cancelled anyway as they all involved teams that required a cup game.

As a result of this ban part-time clubs Alloa and Arbroath will be able to continue playing League games but full-time clubs Falkirk, Queen`s Park and Airdrie (?) will not. That seems a bit of an anomaly but maybe the higher grants given to Championship clubs, which will make it easier for them to afford the testing, was a deciding factor.

It`s more just a matter of simple practicality - you can`t really have a situation whereby some teams in a particular division or cup competition are allowed to keep playing while others are not.
Ideally, they`d stop part-time football altogether, but doing so would mean that all of our division had to stop. Having two part-time clubs playing is a compromise solution that allows some football to be played while cutting out the majority of problems due to football/non-football mixing. Like everything else in this, there`s not an outcome that suits everyone, and the full-time sides in leagues below will understandably be unhappy about this, as we would have been had this happened when we were a league below in fairly recent times.
If there`s not an improvement in the situation quite soon, having these clubs playing might be considered an unacceptably high risk, at which point our division will surely be suspended too.

If we are being tested every week the club need to be all over the social distancing rules or one positive asymptomatic test could result in a whole raft of players having to self isolate - eg I hope we have no players car sharing.

Just curious -when we travel to away games do we still travel by team coach or do all players have to make their own way by car and as AJ27 asks do we permit car sharing?
What about training- do players travel individually?
Are Championship players already tested regularly ?

"It`s more just a matter of simple practicality - you can`t really have a situation whereby some teams in a particular division or cup competition are allowed to keep playing while others are not."
Some seemingly absurd anomalies arise.
For example - we can`t now play Morton in the cup tomorrow tonight, however if it were a league fixture it could go ahead.
