Each club gets £500000 grant non refundable.
Is is a freebie.
Please someone tell me this can't fund testing for the foreseeable future.
Football is one of the few things I have to look forward to and I'm sure I'm not alone here.
P. S. Why was no letter sent to league 1 +2 to ask their opinions?

according to reports 50k for weekly testing until the end of the season.

As AAPS says, the only thing to look forward to for the next few months is the fitbaw, crack on and get this season done.

40k for rest of the season give or take.
With the grant teams got, for me they should continue using same
Protocols.

So which club has `publicly` asked that the Championship be suspended? No one seems to know.

i presume they are meaning this from John Robertson yesterday

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/john-robertson-slams-sfa-inverness-23321758

should this not have been done at the start of this week? what are the 6 teams playing tomorrow now thinking ahead of their games?

the grants might be a freebie but it is to cover loss of income, other costs etc that are already in place, taking out another 40-50k or whatever it is im sure some teams will say no we want to stop, how many and how many are needed for it to happen i suppose we will find out on Monday.

If Covid testing is £50 grand till the end of season, I'd suggest the further £450000 should cover the rest for most teams bar Hearts perhaps.

So ICT aren`t happy to play but, on the other hand, Falkirk and Partick by all accounts aren`t happy their league has been suspended. I`d be surprised if a majority of Championship clubs want to stop.

I`d just tell the players to go individually to a testing centre saying they had symptoms.

Plenty key workers aren`t getting the benefit of testing eg supermarket staff, posties, bus drivers etc so John Robertson`s comments jar a wee bit.

I wonder how the replies will pan out? Teams near the bottom might vote to stop, in the hope that the season will not re-start and be declared null and void. Those in with a chance of promotion will almost certainly want to keep going, so that leaves those not going anywhere to make up their minds. Can they vote Don't Know? 😉

Will it be a simple majority vote? What if it comes back 5-5? Will Ann Budge ask Ross McArthur to go up to Inverness to sort out Scott Gardiner and John Robertson? If the Championhip clubs vote for a shut down, will the SPFL turn it's attentions to the Premiership? Will Peter Lawwell lean on the other chairmen to get the league stopped and will Therangers cry "Foul"?

So many questions.....

It is probably the right thing to stop it from a health and duty of care point of view for a short circuit break. The pressure from fans desire to see their teams will influence the decision to continue. The other day seeing Robbie Neilson on TV saying clubs should use £500k to fund the testing got my anger up and made me think there must be support for a break?

I would have thought that, with the weekly testing and all the protocols/precautions in place, the risk is very low for the players and their immediate families?

I think if it stops then there is a very real possibility that it won’t restart, just imagine the fallout from that scenario

Asking clubs to vote is pointless, as they will almost all vote in their own interests

The powers that be should sit down with Nicola and arrange financial aid for clubs so that they can pause the season for 2 months

Pausing the season for 2 months would take it to the end of June, unless it is condensed by playing at least 2 games per week. Even then it would go to the end of May, not counting play offs. How would that dovetail with the club finishing 11th in the Premiership?

And where's the logic in pausing the Championship but not the Premiership? Both are essentially full time leagues. More questions, I know. 🤔

I can`t see that giving public funds to football clubs being too popular outside that group of beneficiaries.

A loan maybe, but not a handout.

I think there is no benefit from stopping the championship for a circuit break
there are protocols for testing in place already which clubs should be following !
and our league is no different from premiership apart from Alloa and Arbroath every other team is full time So for me follow the rules in place and continue
I am sure the bottom teams will be happy to suspend the league or cancel it as it means no relegation for them
let common sense prevail and keep going

Looks like Ian Maxwell has made a right erse of this - John Robertson was not suggesting publicly that his club were officially advocating a suspension or cancellation of the league fixtures.

Maxwell should have spoken with the ICT heirarchy privately to clarify - thereafter he would known there was no need to take the matter further.

There would be a volcanic eruption at Tynecastle if the Championship were to be compromised and no promotion on the cards.

One wonders why Ian Maxwell did not Phone Inverness CT FC.

One does not deny that the views of John Robertson are heartfelt.

Coming in the same week that remarks attributed to Neil Doncaster, regarding declaring Scottish Football null and void for this season; were made public; it is hardly surprising that alarm bells began to ring.

It is funny how Inverness are so often misrepresented.........

Allegedly.

Hearts didn`t want 2019/21 ended prematurely - so they be consistent with the same mindset for 2020/21.

Was this a “temperature” test to see if there’s support to suspend or is this another vanity project from the authorities? Makes no sense to suspend the league when testing is in place.

I would not expect schools to be charged for their employees to be tested. Why then are clubs getting charged. The players are all paying their National Insurance surely that should pay for their testing.

The Neil Doncaster null and void stuff is complete fake news. He just answered factually that that wasn’t ruled out nor in effect was anything else. The clubs would ultimately decide what should happen if programme wasn’t completed - not him

Really??? What about children of key workers who are unable to work from home, or families who don't have the money/technology at home to take part in remote learning?

Aye no problem, do you have children? Even if you’re not a key worker, parents that can work from home, still have to work.

We have three kids in the house, two of which are self sufficient, the other is 5 and even with the wife and I at home it is incredibly difficult to manage alongside work even with the flexibility our jobs are giving us.

Then there’s the general social aspect that they are missing out on, especially the younger one.

Schools are essential.

Have you ANY idea how the closure of schools is impacting on the lives of people with kids who are having to stay at home ?

If they’re losing money just now, would it not make sense to pause (assuming money given to them made that cost neutral) - then they could restart when crowds were allowed back in so their next games became profitable again?

With an extended season it's just going to move the costs forward by however many months. The fixed costs won't change only the dates they are due on. Better to let it run and start afresh next season.

I can`t see fans getting back into stadiums anytime soon, so suspending the leagues until that unknown date is simply going to cause more avoidable problems.

After the brouhaha of the last week, regarding Ian Maxwell contacting every Championship Club to see if they wished to suspend the season,we don`t know the outcome.

Earlier Robbie Neilson was sure not one club woukd request that.

Given the highly paid SFA Chief Executive speaks to the clubs every day, why was he flying this kite?

And,as Chief Executive, why did he find it so difficult to distinguish between the heartfelt caring view of a Manager and the Board of that same club?

When Stevie Crawford was asked his view, after the televised match on Friday, without hesitation he replied, appropriately, he would speak to the Chairman.
