 Frank Lampard

I thought this was getting close :-

Chelsea are set to sack manager Frank Lampard after 18 months in charge.

Former Chelsea midfielder Lampard, 42, will leave with the club ninth in the Premier League table after last week`s defeat at Leicester City, having won once in their past five league matches.

His final game in charge was Sunday`s 3-1 FA Cup fourth round win against Championship side Luton.

Lampard was appointed on a three-year contract when he replaced Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge in July 2019.

He guided them to fourth place and the FA Cup final in his first season in charge, but the Blues have now suffered as many defeats in their past eight league games as they had in their previous 23.

I always felt that appointment came too early for him, before he had served a proper apprenticeship in management. The folk who get the appointments wrong never take the punishment though.

Depends on how much say he had in the signings ,maybe all these payoffs to managers is a way of laundering cash .

I`ve yet to hear a manager come out and say "I didn`t want that player - I had no say in it"

Chelsea are a despicable wee club. Who would want to manage there? Nice pay off for so-called failure though I suppose.

I`m not a big Lampard fan, and I don`t like Chelsea, but surely they should have given him until the end of the season.

I suppose they had already decided that Tuchel would be their next managerial sacking in 2022, so they needed to act quickly.

"Who would want to manage there?"

who would want to be a manager anywhere?

Think Lampard was the Derby County manager before going to Chelsea and was followed by Coccu and now Wayne Rooney. Maybe get a job as Rooney`s assistant to try and lift them from 4th or 5th bottom of the table. Don`t know why they`re doing so poorly. They must have a rotten goalkeeper.

Sorry to ramble a bit but on the English Championship theme Scott McKenna doesn`t seem to have steadied the ship at Nottingham Forrest which is a pity because it would be good to see them back in the top tier.

Unai Emery came pretty close with Nicolas Pepe - he`s been very clear that he wanted Zaha.
