SPFL Championship
Starks Park ko7.45pm

Raith Rovers 0-4 Hearts FT

Two first half goals from Boyce & Henderson set the visitors alight.

A straight red card for Rovers’ Hendry after he fouled Halliday made it harder for them to make any come back, and it was all over when Hearts’ new signing, Gnanduillet, put two past a hapless Macdonald in the 2nd half.

Hearts now 9 pts clear at the top of the table.
They face second placed DAFC on Saturday.

Works well for us. Will be pleased if ends in hearts victory and we avoid a potential 6 pointer game against them (Raith)

another red card and some injuries wouldn't go amiss for us playing these two in the next week.

Hearts should be 4 up , goalie had some good saves, Hearts have missed two absolute sitters . Raith had very few touches of the ball in the opposition half, going to be a long 45 mins for them

64 minutes in and Raith STILL haven’t managed a single shot - on or off target!
..... and at the final whistle the situation hasn’t improved!

Could have been 5/6. Gordon didn`t have a single save to make,80% of game was in Raith half.

Wasn’t overly impressed with their new striker Armand his first goal was typical poacher stuff rebound off keeper for him to blast into the net. The bit of him that did concern me was the height and how cleanly he took that header from corner for final goal.
Could be a cause for concern against us on Saturday.
I want to see us fighting for points though and not settle for being pummelled like what happened to Raith tonight.

the big centre half should scored twice against us back in November, we really need try get a big a team on the park on Saturday as we can to try negate as much as we can the aerial threat.

Watson and Murray at the back really struggle against a big centre half like the lad at Raith and if the new Hearts lad plays Saturday.

Exactly the type of player were missing.

If you weren’t impressed with him scoring 2 goals on his 30 minute debut.
Would like to hear you opinion on our strikers that couldn’t hit a coo’s erse with a banjo.

Just watching some of armand gnanduillets goal reels from blackpool , he will be major danger inside the box for sure.

Well I still go back to that sky super Sunday years ago when it was arsenal playing Someone like Man U and before that Rangers were playing someone like Aberdeen and they put up stats after both games for mcoist and Iain.

These numbers weren’t exact but it was along the lines of
mcoist: shots 20, on target 10, goals 2
Wright: shots 3, on target 2, goals 2

"A lot of folk never rated Ally Mcoist but he was a true goal scorer."

Indeed - he scored against the Pars for fun.

I watched them too. Yes, he is exactly the sort of player we are missing.

Hearts have done very well to find him. I would imagine he would be well out of our price range.

But the truth is that if we want promotion, which we do, we are not going to get it with the three strikers we currently have. We lack a tall and powerful presence up front.

One of the two big strikers at Raith - Duku or Ugwu - would probably be our best option. Having just come up to the Championship, Rovers might not be quite as hungry as us for promotion this season and their directors might be prepared to let one go for the right deal. Even if it cost a little bit of money, it needn`t be a lot if we negotiate a low fee with a higher sell-on clause.

In September, when the German investors came in, we were assured that we would be getting access to a Europe-wide scouting network that would differentiate us from clubs of a similar size. It would be nice to see some tangible evidence of this. Granted, Covid-19 must be holding a lot of things back.

But Hearts obviously have a decent scouting network in place. Somehow they got wind of the fact that Armand Gnanduillets had cut short his contract in Turkey. And right now, his signing has put them firmly in the driving seat for promotion.

Should we, could we, will we, play our own ace card before the transfer window closes?

Lol well he just seemed to lose the ball alot in his 1st showing. Mibbe he was trying to hard to get off to a good start. Ultimately he did and he knows where to be in the box. It was his groundwork and I felt he seemed no to keen to chase the ball down. Just the way I see it....other opinions may differ. As for us....our attacking game needs to be a higher tempo but controlled passing more accurate passing , better attempts to find spaces and quicker support which is where I felt the difference was between us and hearts last game we played. Raith played at a higher tempo at tyncastle as well at the weekend.
Duku would be a good addition Ugwu no his attitude is all about him not a team.
