I suspect that every instance is being reported, quite rightly, now.
It needs robust reactions legally.

Rashford is the 3rd Man U player this week, BPP, after Martial and Tuanzebe on Wednesday, but there have also been cases involving players of Chelsea and West Brom.
The "fans" responsible are complete morons. What must make it even more galling for Rashford and the other black players who have been subjected to the abuse, is that it has almost certainly been posted by their own fans - unless you subscribe to some wild theory that (in the Man U players case) the abusive comments have been posted by fans of Liverpool, Leeds or City, to make United fans look bad.....
I have no solid evidence to back up my conviction that racism and racial abuse is on the rise again but I believe that the Brexit Referendum has emboldened those who think that Britain should only be for British born whites. I know of two people who voted for Brexit "because there are too many blacks and Asians here."
I wouldn't think they're unique.

I know next to nothing about the Internet and social media platforms in particular, but I find it hard to believe that these morons cannot be tracked down by the police, have their phones, laptops etc. confiscated and slapped with eye watering fines or a prison sentence if they fail to pay it.
I wonder if the political will is there, or if it's not a high priority?

We are all human beings. I don`t understand why people have an issue with the colour of a person`s skin.
These racists must just be extremely stupid and ignorant.
The world needs more kind hearted pacafists but sadly these plonkers are always going to exist.

There are two groups of racists of racists in football :-
The first group are openly racist and hostile to all those players with a different skin tone.
The second consists of hypocritical racists - players of their own team are accepted until such times as they have a poor game (in their eyes) and the team fails to win.

‘This is tribalism!’ gasped Wallace Mercer when he was under vitriolic attack for trying to merge Hearts and Hibs. That’s the point: there is precious little logic in supporting most Scottish teams in terms of winning anything, so forces other than logic and rationality must be at work. Tribalism is what keeps a team’s support together and the flip side of that tribalism can be crude, insulting, abusive, sometimes threatening language.
When I was learning my footballing ABC in the North Enclosure the pitch was awash with baldy b******s, cheating ‘c***s, dirty b*****s, fly ‘f******s, guisers, hackers, has- beens, jessies, midgets and even, surely a contradiction in terms, poofy c****s. Rival tribes long lost to history, such as Huns or Romans, would nevertheless put in a regular appearance at EEP, and the fact that the referee was registered blind did not spare him either. That was just the opposition. The home team contained carthorses, donkeys, brainless b*******s allegedly smart enough to have married the manager’s daughter. One time I heard a Pars winger lined up for transfer called a ‘wee hoor’ whilst another was called ‘Spock’ due to his having pointed ears. Football has always been a rough trade.
I suppose I could claim that there was no racist abuse being thrown back in the late 1960s but that was surely due to circumstance. The first black player I saw at EEP played in defence for Anderlecht and later Clyde Best of West Ham turned up, but since neither were regular rivals there seemed little reason to focus on them. It would have been a different story I’m sure had they played for Rangers, Celtic or Raith Rovers.
There is no logic to any of these insults. Some are rooted in bigotry, many linked to nationality or race, others to appearance and a fair handful totally slanderous accusations without a shrewd of truth. They are wild and less than wonderful but I suspect that if certain forms of abuse against ‘the other’ are deemed unacceptable, then other tribal chants will simply take their place.
`Take a look into the Green Tree
And you’ll hear a famous noise
Get out you Covid b******s
We’re Dunfermline’s Barry Boys.`
sort of thing.

Talking of which, where is John Salton these days ?
Back in October 2017 I decided to skip the trip to Dumfries and went to the Scottish Cup tie between Edinburgh Uni and Fraserburgh instead.
I got talking to a bunch of guys who told me they liked to take in lower league games as their Saturday afternoon entertainment and had opted for East Peffermill on that occasion. One of them turned out to be John Salton - I had a brief chat with him (fortunately I could remember seeing him play) and he told me he was due to be a guest at some club function in the coming weeks.
I`ve no idea what he is up to nowadays but it was good to know that he was in contact with the club, and that he was looking well.

You could not make this up ... from Aunty :-
An Irish teenager who admitted sending racist abuse to former England and Arsenal footballer Ian Wright has not been given a criminal conviction.
Patrick O`Brien, 18, sent 20 messages on Instagram after losing a Fifa video game on PlayStation in May 2019.
O`Brien, who blamed the defeat on picking Wright as one of his players, was given probation at a sentencing hearing on Wednesday.
In a victim impact statement, Wright said he forgave O`Brien.

Ian Wright may have forgiven him but he wasn`t happy with the sentence -
`Ian Wright says he is "disappointed" after a teenager who sent the former England striker racist abuse was not given a criminal conviction.
Irishman Patrick O`Brien, 18, sent 20 messages on Instagram after losing a Fifa video game match in May 2019.
O`Brien, who blamed the loss on picking Wright as one of his players, was given probation at a hearing on Wednesday.
"I can only wonder what deterrent there is for anyone else who spouts this kind of vile racist abuse," said Wright.`

Wright said he had not expected his forgiveness for O`Brien in a victim impact statement to be "an invitation to lighten a sentence".
He added: "I am disappointed. I`m tired. We are all tired."
Judge David Waters told Tralee District Court he "didn`t see anything to be gained" by imposing a criminal conviction.
He noted O`Brien, of Sycamore Court, Ashleigh Downs in Tralee, had shown genuine remorse for his actions and had donated 500 euro (£440) to the Irish Network Against Racism.
O`Brien admitted harassing Wright and sending a message by phone that was grossly offensive, obscene and menacing.
The court heard O`Brien had written an apology to Wright, which was accepted by the 57-year-old former Arsenal player.
