Ok so what’s up with doing links on here. They’re not working ☹️
6’6”! Wahey!
From COW:
“Vytas is a 6ft 5” central defender, who can play on either the right or left side and is comfortable playing in a back three, if required.
All being well, Vytas will be a DAFC player for the next two and half years, but due to the extra restrictions imposed by Brexit in terms of the new immigration rules, coupled with the current challenges imposed by the Covid lockdown, there is still further paperwork to be completed to obtain a long term visa for Vytas. However, Vytas will be free to train and play with the squad.
Manager Stevie Crawford said:-
“We were scouring and leaving no stone uncovered. Vytas was brought to our attention by an agent but Andrius Skerla has played a big part in this when we started doing our homework. You cannot go out physically and watch a player just now. Vytas has broken into the Lithuanian international team recently, he is 26, he can play left centre back, right centre back and as third centre back if you are playing three.
“He is at a good age for a centre half to come to a club that gives him an opportunity to play in the UK. Once he got speaking to the chairman and myself he has been happy to commit himself for two and a half years.”
Dunfermline Athletic would like to thank the SFA Exceptions Panel and Vytas’s agent, KVD player agency for their help and patience, and once again Thorntons Law LLP for their expertise and diligence. In addition, our thanks must go to Pars Legend, Andrius Skerla (who was the Assistant National Coach of Lithuania) who was instrumental in bringing Vytas to East End Park.
We look forward to integrating Vytas into the squad in the coming days. He entered a period of self isolation after an exhausting 21 hour journey to Dunfermline on Sunday, after leaving his family in Lithuania travelling via Latvia, France, Manchester and then on to Edinburgh!
Finally, we would also like to pass on our sincere thanks to Marie Hendry who has kindly offered to provide Vytas with his food shopping during his period of self isolation, and Sandy Wyse who has kindly offered to provide tuition lessons to Vytas to further improve his already very good English. Once again, the Pars Family rallies in support!
We welcome Vytas to our club.”

i think its called forward planning, maybe Murray will stay but you are losing Mayo unless Rangers want to let us have him for another year.
that area will be a problem for a lot of teams in terms of options, hopefully Vytas can fit in well.

Good to see we are looking elsewhere for players to come in. As others have said when we lose Mayo come the end of the season and if we do end up losing Murray then we have a spot filled. I'd imagine he'll take a while to get up to speed with the squad and the culture, so hopefully in the long term this will prove to be a good signing. Certainly tall enough! YouTube has some highlights of him scoring headers from corners so that's always a good sign...

Actually, Drizic was a quality player, formerly with Red Star Belgrade, who had the misfortune to be under the guidance of Jocky Scott. He didn't play many games for us as his footballing brain was 3 moves ahead of his team mates at the time. However, I still remember the special moment when he nutmegged Maurice Johnston on the edge of his own box, right at the start of the game.

Hope I`m wrong but don`t see him being here next season.

Having had a chance to look at some of his data;
He very strong in the air - perhaps not the most surprising thing mind you.
He is an accurate passer
Wins a lot more of his defensive duels than he loses (for those that don’t know this is essentially how often he manages to stop an attacker without fouling whether that be dispossessing the attacker, kicking the ball out or forcing the attacker to go back)
Looks fairly positive anyway and have been told that Lithuanian football is similar to Scottish football so hopefully shouldn’t take long for him to get to grips with things

well he got here Sunday so presume it was all signed and sealed before Monday midnight, he will have his 10 days self isolation then be free to train with rest of the squad, the extra paperwork is the question but hopefully not too long, club must be confident of getting it sorted otherwise they wouldn't have brought him over but the legal team they use will guide them on those matters am sure

As for Murray, I don't necessarily think it is bad news but can't see Lewis Martin playing for us again at this rate so low on natural central defenders.

get used to how we train, the coaches, his team mates, new surroundings, seeing the scottish game in person, learning the language a bit more, that would be some to start off.

One thing we have learned from Crawford is that he does his homework and when he sees someone he likes he get them in early like in the summer.

With this signing and the PCA for Craig Wighton it is clear Craw is trying to build a squad not just capable of challenging for promotion but also competing in the Premiership as there`s a chance that`s where we could be playing next season. He`ll have to apply the same criteria when deciding whether to offer contract extensions to the existing squad. He obviously thinks Dow and Comrie are good enough to make the step up.

I remember as a kid being really excited by us signing Milos Drizic, it felt like we had really hit the big time after years in the lower leagues in the 80s. I seem to remember people talking about this huge player who had scored 45 goals in a season for Red Star Belgrade, and thought we had signed a world beater

dont know why you would question bringing the lad in now !!!
Martin is probably gonna be out all season, Mayo looks like favoured in middle of the park this now and doing a damn decent job in there when asked, so yes a few others could play in the centre of defence but having 3rd in and out centre half was needed with others who can play there doing well elsewhere for us.
Doesnt matter if might not see too much of him this season and lets hope euan and paul stay fit as they been solid at the back for us, but its a wise decision to bring someone else in on top of all the reasons others have posted above.

Gives us an option for 3 at the back with wing backs, might work now with new option up front, worth a try I think?

wont be 3 at the back anytime soon !!
where u gonna play thomas, banks, fraser murray and dow when u go 3 at the back.....
comrie is a good defensive full back, playing that bit further forward for him isnt as easy as saying your playing wing back now.

At least he’ll get some match practice, unlikely to feature for us at the moment unless we go with three at the back.
